Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Anime Neon Genesis Evangelion
Seiko has unveiled the C038 EVA-01 Diver’s Watch Limited Edition, a collaboration inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion, the iconic Japanese anime series created by Hideaki Anno and first aired in 1995 by studio Gainax.
Released as part of the “RADIO EVA THE 30” project celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary, this limited edition also marks the first time a Seiko diver’s watch adopts a design inspired by EVA Unit-01, the anime’s legendary mecha.
Measuring 45mm in diameter and 14.1mm in thickness, the watch is housed in a robust stainless steel case and paired with a matching case back. The two-tone green and purple bezel immediately references Unit-01’s unmistakable color scheme, while the watch maintains its professional credentials with 200 metres of water resistance.
The dial further deepens the connection to the Evangelion universe, featuring a honeycomb pattern evocative of the series’ visual language. At 12 o’clock, the applied marker, along with decorative elements at 2 and 10 o’clock, draws inspiration from Unit-01’s face and chest armor, while a day-date display is positioned at 3 o’clock.
One of the most distinctive elements of this collaborative timepiece is the custom-molded central seconds hand, shaped like the iconic Spear of Longinus. Finished in a deep red tone, it sweeps dramatically across the dial, serving as both a functional detail and a powerful visual reference for devoted fans. The hands and hour markers are treated with Seiko’s LumiBrite, ensuring legibility in low-light conditions.
Powering the watch is the Seiko Caliber 4R36 automatic movement, a proven and reliable workhorse within the brand’s lineup. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of approximately 41 hours, while offering both hacking seconds and manual winding for added precision and practicality.
The watch is fitted with a durable black silicone strap and is limited to 300 pieces worldwide. Scheduled for release in early March 2026, it is priced at USD 847, equivalent to approximately AED 3,110.
