Introducing Seiko Unveils The Europe Exclusive Prospex 1965 Divers SPB473

In 1965, Seiko introduced its first diver’s watch, the 65MAS, marking the beginning of a journey where the brand has consistently pioneered new technologies and designs that have earned the admiration of divers. This innovation has shaped the Prospex diver's watch collection that we witness today. This year, we saw the new generation of the iconic Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Divers with a new case size and enhanced movements. Now, the Japanese watchmaker releases the SPB473, a new addition to this collection based on the original Prospex 1965 Divers but not part of its newest generation, with a dial inspired by the waters of the Greek island Zakynthos, specifically for the European market.

The watch features a stainless steel case with a diameter of 40.5mm and a thickness of 13.2mm, distinguished by its straight lugs. A domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside protects the dial. The 120-click unidirectional bezel boasts a dark blue steel insert, complete with a lumed pip at the 60-minute marker. Since the crown is screw-down, and the steel screw-in case back ensures water resistance up to 200 meters.

As previously mentioned, the dial displays a stunning gradient inspired by the waters surrounding the island of Zakynthos in Greece, transitioning from light to dark blue. It also features a date window at the 3 o'clock position and LumiBrite on the markers and hands, a new luminous material that is brighter and longer-lasting than conventional luminous paints.

The watch is powered by the Calibre 6R35, an in-house automatic movement with a frequency of 21,600 vph (3Hz) and a power reserve of 70 hours. It comes with a 3-link stainless steel bracelet with a fold-over safety clasp and diver's extension, as well as an additional white silicone strap with a steel pin buckle. The watch is limited to 1,000 pieces and available exclusively at European boutiques and retailers, priced at EUR 1,500, approximately AED 6,000.
