Two new releases featuring the historic Japanese indigo hue
The Presage collection holds a special place in Seiko's catalog, embodying traditional craftsmanship and refined aesthetics. This year, the Presage Classic Series introduces two new references, the SPB525 and SPB527, both dressed in an indigo hue that has symbolized elegance and fortune in Japan since the Edo period and became widely recognized abroad as “Japan Blue.”
Both models are housed in stainless steel cases measuring 40.2 mm in diameter, 13 mm in thickness, and 46 mm lug-to-lug. The design features a stepped bezel, a mix of polished and brushed surfaces, and a fluted crown at 3 o’clock. A double-domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a sapphire caseback and 100 meters of water resistance complete the construction.

The SPB525 presents a domed, grain-textured dial inspired by the soft shimmer of Japanese silk. Its refined layout includes alpha-style hands, slim baton indexes, a discreet minute track, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The SPB527, on the other hand, takes a more dynamic approach with a radiant sunburst “Ai-Iro” dial. At 9 o’clock, an open-heart aperture reveals the beating balance wheel, complemented by a 24-hour subdial at 6 o’clock.
Inside, the SPB525 runs on the automatic Caliber 6R55, while the SPB527 is powered by the Caliber 6R5J. Both operate at 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and provide a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. Each watch is paired with a seven-row stainless steel bracelet secured by a butterfly clasp.
The SPB525 is priced at £900 (approx. AED 4,500), while the SPB527 is offered at £1,060 (approx. AED 5,300).
