Honoring Japanese Tradition, Seiko Unveils a New Masterpiece in the King Seiko Collection
The narrative of King Seiko goes back to the early 1960s, showcasing remarkable horological expertise within the Seiko family. Over time, the legacy of King Seiko experienced a resurgence in 2022 with a limited re-edition inspired by the iconic 1965 King Seiko KSK. This recreation served as a testament to the timeless allure of vintage designs and craftsmanship that has endured the test of generations.
In the realm of high end watchmaking, Seiko has consistently commanded a significant presence. Among its varied array of collections, the King Seiko series occupies a distinct and cherished position, seamlessly blending elements of heritage and contemporary sophistication. A recent addition to this series is the King Seiko SJE095, an exclusive timepiece paying homage to the artistry of Japan.
Encased within a 38.6mm stainless steel case brushed with polished accents and measuring 10.7mm in thickness, adorned with a box-shaped sapphire crystal, and lug-to-lug span of 45.8mm and 19mm of Lug width with up to 50-meter water resistance. The timepiece boasts gracefully tapered lugs and “Zaratsu” (mirror polishing) on the bezel. The watch is Slightly slimmer by 0.5mm compared to the KSK, with a new date window at 3 o'clock.
Nestled within the King Seiko SJE095 lies an entrancing dial adorned with an exquisite chrysanthemum pattern. This intricate motif serves as a heartfelt homage to Japan's revered national flower, symbolizing concepts of royalty, enduring life, and grace. The chrysanthemum's profound significance in Japanese culture renders it a fitting choice for this exceptional watch.
Powering the timepiece is the Seiko caliber 6L35 automatic in-house movement. Operating at a frequency of 4Hz and endowed with a power reserve of up to 45 hours, the 6L35 movement guarantees reliable timekeeping. Impressively, the movement maintains precision within the range of -10 to +15 seconds per day.
True to the original design, the solid caseback of the watch displays a medallion bearing the King Seiko shield. The timepiece comes equipped with both a stainless steel bracelet and a gray leather strap. Being a limited edition masterpiece, with only 600 pieces available, it stands as an enticing collector's item for watch enthusiasts.
available in October 2023, the King Seiko SJE095 is priced at USD 3,300, approximately AED 12,000.
