Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch

The iconic collection debuts new dials and for the first time, a leather strap
The Japanese manufacture expands its iconic King Seiko VANAC collection with two landmark additions that do far more than merely complement the range, they redefine the contemporary perception of VANAC. The new references SDKV013 and SDKV015, known internationally as SLA093 and SLA095, merge the bold, architectural geometry of the past with the refined sensibility of modern premium watchmaking.

A key evolution in this release is the introduction of a leather strap. For the first time in the history of the King Seiko VANAC collection, a model is officially delivered on leather rather than the traditional stainless-steel bracelet. This development significantly broadens the collection’s versatility, offering a more refined and elegant alternative that transitions seamlessly from casual wear to formal settings, while preserving the line’s unmistakable character.
The cases of these new models retain the signature angular, bezel-less architecture inspired by crystalline formations. Extensive Zaratsu-style mirror polishing on the case flanks creates a dynamic interplay of light, a defining characteristic of the original 1972 VANAC models. Despite the more elegant presentation afforded by the leather strap, these watches remain firmly rooted in practicality. A box-shaped sapphire crystal protects the dial, while water resistance is rated at 100 meters, ensuring dependable everyday durability.
In keeping with King Seiko heritage, the watches feature a solid screw-down case back. It is adorned with the traditional King Seiko medallion—an emblem of quality and a direct nod to the brand’s premium chronometers of the 1960s and 1970s. This choice reinforces historical continuity, favoring classic identity over a contemporary exhibition case back.
Crafted in stainless steel, the case strikes a confident balance between robustness and wearability. Measuring 41mm in diameter, it sits comfortably on the wrist, while the compact 45.1mm lug-to-lug length ensures well-judged proportions, even on slimmer wrists. The 14.3mm thickness underscores the watch’s mechanical substance without tipping into excess, reinforcing its tool-watch credentials.
A box-shaped sapphire crystal crowns the case, introducing a subtle vintage note while offering modern scratch resistance. From a technical standpoint, the construction is designed to perform under demanding conditions, with magnetic resistance rated at 4,800 A/m to protect the movement from everyday magnetic fields. At 103 grams, the watch offers a reassuring sense of solidity while remaining well balanced on the wrist.
The color palette of the new models draws inspiration from the urban and natural landscapes of Tokyo. The SDKV013 (SLA093) features a deep dark brown dial accented with gold tones, evoking the warm, refined atmosphere of classic executive studies. The SDKV015 (SLA095), by contrast, is rendered in an “Urban Green” gradient—a reference to the lush greenery of the Meiji gardens set against the city’s metropolitan backdrop. Both dials retain the collection’s signature horizontal texture and a sophisticated arrangement of sharply faceted indices.
Powering these timepieces is the Caliber 8L45, one of Seiko’s finest automatic movements, hand-assembled at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), it delivers an accuracy rated between +10 and −5 seconds per day, along with a robust 72-hour power reserve. This allows the watch to be set aside for an entire long weekend without stopping. The movement is also equipped with a stop-seconds (hacking) mechanism for precise time setting.

For clarity, collectors should note the dual reference system. SDKV013 and SDKV015 are reserved for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), while the international versions carry the references SLA093 and SLA095. Importantly, the technical specifications remain identical across both designations.
Completing the aesthetic shift, the leather straps—another first for the VANAC line—are crafted from cow leather and offered in brown or black. They are secured by a three-fold clasp with push-button release. These new King Seiko VANAC models are not limited editions and are priced at EUR 3,300, approximately AED 14,275.
