An iconic timepiece in a special guise celebrating 75 years of Seddiqi
Ahmed Seddiqi continues its 75th-anniversary celebrations with a series of exclusive editions and remarkable collaborations. This time, the Middle East’s largest watch retailer takes the milestone even further by joining forces with Greubel Forsey, one of the most prestigious independent watchmakers. The partnership is particularly meaningful, as Seddiqi was among the first to believe in the founders’ vision, forging a deep and enduring relationship with the brand.
For this special collaboration, the two houses selected the Balancier 3, one of Greubel Forsey’s most compact creations. Housed in a lightweight titanium case, the watch receives a series of bespoke touches, resulting in an exclusive edition limited to just 10 pieces.
The Balancier 3 features Greubel Forsey’s signature convex titanium case, measuring 41.5 mm in diameter. For the first time, the lugs are designed without screws, further refining the clean aesthetic. The convex profile extends to both the display back and the dial side, offering exceptional comfort and a natural fit on the wrist. On the front, the double curvature dips elegantly toward the strap ends, reinforcing the sculptural appeal.
For this edition, Seddiqi and Greubel Forsey introduced a golden hue, a color symbolic of the region and one often seen across Seddiqi’s 75th-anniversary pieces. The openworked dial is anchored by a finely grained golden mainplate, enhanced by three distinct hand-finished bridges. The first, polished, houses the barrel at 10 o’clock. The second supports the oversized 12.6 mm balance wheel between 4 and 6 o’clock, an unmistakable signature of the Atelier. The third bridge, executed with a frosted finish, represents a technical milestone: the first time Greubel Forsey has applied this technique to a titanium, non-flat structure. At 8 o’clock, the small seconds display adds a striking visual touch with a fixed red indicator and a rotating satin-finished disc.
The curved hour and minute hands are mounted on a wide, hand-polished, three-dimensional openworked bridge. The dial is completed by Greubel Forsey’s signature elements: an engraved and lacquered minute track, three-dimensional Super-LumiNova-treated indices, and, unique to this edition, a special engraving on the barrel at 10 o’clock reading Seddiqi’s slogan, “Where Legacy Meets Luxury.”
Powering the timepiece is Greubel Forsey’s in-house, hand-wound movement, beating at 21,600 vph. It delivers a 72-hour power reserve through two series-coupled fast-rotating barrels, one completing a revolution in just 3.2 hours. The curved sapphire caseback reveals large golden plates with grained finishing and five jewels set in polished chatons. For the first time in the Convexe collection, the power reserve indicator is displayed on the back. An engraving of the number “75” pays tribute to Seddiqi’s anniversary, while a screwed plate denotes the individual number of each piece in the 10-watch edition.
Completing the watch is a white rubber strap secured with a titanium folding clasp. The Greubel Forsey Balancier 3 Ahmed Seddiqi 75th Anniversary Edition is limited to just 10 pieces worldwide with a price of AED 810,000.
