A Collaboration with Oster Jewelers Showcasing a Tantalum Dial with Traditional Guilloché
Independent company Sartory-Billard unveils the SB04-E “Tantoster”, a limited edition created in collaboration with Oster Jewelers. The Tantoster unites classical craftsmanship with bold material innovation. Its name, “Tantoster,” is a playful clin d’œil combining Tantalum and Oster, a subtle nod to the partnership at its heart. Founded in Denver, Colorado, Oster Jewelers has become one of America’s leading destinations for independent watchmaking.
As part of the SB04-E line, this limited edition retains the collection’s elegant case design. Crafted from 316L stainless steel, the case measures 39.5 mm in diameter, 10.3 mm in thickness, and 46 mm lug-to-lug. It consists of three parts: a large polished bezel with a concave profile that reflects light and its surroundings, visually reducing the watch’s thickness; a satin-finished case middle; and a decorated caseback. The case is water-resistant to 100 meters. As a unique touch, a luminous coating has been applied to the crown and to select dial components.
At the heart of the Tantoster lies its captivating dial, where the timeless art of guilloché meets the uncompromising strength of tantalum. The grand panier (basket-weave) motif, rooted in classical horology, appears here for the very first time on this noble metal. The dial has been engraved on tantalum for the first time in a production series of 10 watches, marking a true world premiere—never before has this metal been decorated with such a motif in a limited series.
The result is a dial of remarkable depth and refinement, where light dances subtly across its woven geometry. The outer minute track is crafted from sunray-brushed tantalum with a light fumé gradient at the edges.
Encircled by a tantalum bezel featuring a fumé sunburst finish, the dial showcases exquisite detail, from its sapphire disk with diamond-polished chamfered edges to its luminous Super-LumiNova BGW9 accents. Even-numbered diamond-cut markers contrast elegantly with Sartory-Billard’s signature Y-shaped indices, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, a tribute to the brand’s Parisian heritage.
As with previous editions, the watch is powered by the automatic G101 caliber from Swiss manufacturer La Joux-Perret. The movement offers a power reserve of 68 hours and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz. Both the tungsten rotor and the bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève patterns, adding an aesthetic touch to the movement.
The SB04-E “Tantoster” is delivered with a Scarlett Paris olive-green leather strap featuring a mustard lining, as well as a Sartory-Billard grey rubber strap with a signed buckle.
Produced in an ultra-limited series of 10 pieces, the SB04-E “Tantoster” is available exclusively through Oster Jewelers in Denver, priced at USD 6,850 (approximately AED 25,160).
