Three releases inspired by astronomical phenomena
In 1994, Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva worked with renowned brands such as Piaget, Parmigiani, and others, an experience that refined his skills in crafting complex timepieces over the following decade. Driven by a passion for the art of watchmaking, Sarpaneva returned to Helsinki, the capital of Finland, in 2003 to establish his own company. There, he personally handcrafts each watch in his workshop, staying true to his vision of independent, artisanal excellence.
In 2006, the brand released the Sarpaneva Supernova. As Stepan Sarpaneva himself puts it, “A supernova marks the end of one era, but it also signals the birth of another.” Nearly two decades after its debut, the Supernova returns, reimagined for a new generation in two distinct variations.

The case is crafted from Outokumpu SUPRA 316L/4435 stainless steel, a high-grade material sourced locally in Finland. Brushed and polished, it features the familiar Sarpaneva silhouette, measuring 40mm in diameter and 11.2mm in thickness. The open caseback, fitted with sapphire crystal, reveals the movement’s decorative finishing and the newly reimagined "Magnetar Turbine" winding rotor, a nod to the violent magnetar explosions that inspired it.
The watch showcases the iconic double-moon display, paired with the brand’s distinctive five-part stainless steel dial. This layered construction reveals a detailed hour chapter ring and an underlying disc adorned with moonfaces in yellow, red, or white gold. Meanwhile, the time-only models introduce stone dials to the brand’s collection for the first time. Time is indicated via handmade stainless steel hands, optionally filled with Swiss Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility.
Powering the watches is a modified Soprod A10 movement, an automatic caliber operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with a 42-hour power reserve. Each piece is fitted with a leather strap, available in various colors, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle.

The Supernova is priced at €16,000, approximately AED 66,600 for the time-only version, and €24,500, approximately AED 102,000 for the moonphase model.
