A new release with an unexpected ice-blue guilloche dial
Watches & Wonders is considered the most anticipated event of the year, creating a huge buzz across all platforms, and after much speculation about the upcoming new releases, especially from Rolex. A new addition to the Rolex Perpetual 1908 collection has just been unveiled, further expanding the line introduced in 2023. Named after one of Rolex's earliest watches featuring the Perpetual rotor that operates with the slightest wrist movement. It boasts a 950 platinum case and an ice-blue guilloche dial, presenting a fresh aesthetic and classic appeal.
With its refined and understated design, the Perpetual 1908 epitomizes the timeless elegance typical of Rolex timepieces. Sporting a vintage and classic flair, it exudes sophistication. Originally introduced in white or yellow gold, and now at an even more opulent iteration of this stunning collection. Other than that, the case aesthetics and size remains the same. Measuring 39mm in diameter and 9.50mm in thickness. The case is polished and features a thin fluted bezel that surrounds a domed sapphire crystal that is treated with anti-reflective coating. Furthermore, the timepiece retains its transparent caseback.
The dial features an ice-blue hue adorned with a guilloché rosette-inspired design, notable for its intricate 3D pattern, and a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. Surrounding the dial is a black railroad minute track with applied numerals at 3, 9, and 12, complemented by white gold hands.
Powering the watch is the Caliber 7140, a recently developed in-house movement that operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and provides 66 hours of power reserve. The movement is Superlative Chronometer certified, as seen over the subdial, ensuring that critical performance aspects that may be affected during the manufacturing process are checked. These aspects include precision, power reserve, water resistance, and automatic winding functionality. This COSC certified movement also features Rolex Côtes de Genève and a solid gold rotor.
The watch comes with matte black or matte brown alligator leather strap, with a green calfskin lining, and secured with a 950 platinum double folding clasp, with a price of EUR 31,300 which is equivalent to AED 125,000.
