Introducing Rolex Unveils the New Datejust 31 278288RBR

The Rolex Datejust collection was launched in 1945 as the first automatic, waterproof chronometer wristwatch to feature a date display at 3 o’clock. This iconic timepiece gained fame for its classic design, which suits various occasions. Among the latest releases unveiled at this year’s Watches and Wonders, the Datejust 31 Ref. 278288RBR stands out with its stunning new red ombré dial.

The watch features a 31mm Oyster case crafted from 18K yellow gold. It boasts a monobloc middle case, a screw-down case back, and a Twinlock screw-down crown, ensuring water resistance up to 100 meters. The bezel is set with 46 brilliant-cut diamonds, enhancing the timepiece’s elegance.

The sunray red ombré dial evokes the final rays of the sun piercing the horizon at nightfall, transitioning seamlessly from fiery tones at the center to deep darkness at the edges. This chiaroscuro effect is further accentuated by diamond-set indices. Notably, this marks the first time Rolex has created a red ombré dial using PVD technology.

Powering the watch is the in-house Caliber 2236, an automatic movement equipped with a Syloxi hairspring made of silicon. This ensures high precision and resistance to shocks and temperature variations. The movement offers a 55-hour power reserve.

The watch comes with the iconic President bracelet, crafted from 18K yellow gold. This semi-circular, three-piece link bracelet, first introduced in 1956, is renowned for its comfort and elegance. The model joins the permanent Datejust collection and is priced at $48,100, approximately AED 197,900.
