Introducing ID Genève Unveils the Circular S Eclipse
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
Contemporary designs in elegant hues showcasing the brand’s creativity
In recent years, horology has seen a daring embrace of modern trends, with brands pushing the boundaries of materials and design. Among these innovations, the use of sapphire cases has become one of the most striking advancements. Transparent designs, that sometimes are diamond-set, have captivated collectors, offering a unique aesthetic. One of the pioneers of this trend is Richard Mille, which took a bold leap in 2015 by unveiling the RM 07-02 Automatic Sapphire, the brand's first watch with a colored sapphire case.

This year, the brand continues its approach with contemporary designs and the release of four new stunning additions to this collection, featuring green, and pink sapphires (in different shades), including diamond-set variants. The Tonneau-shaped case of these timepieces measures 46.75 x 32.90 mm in diameter and 14.35 mm in thickness. The production of the colored sapphire cases used in these watches is far more complex than that of transparent sapphire, as metal oxides must be precisely integrated into the crystalline structure, making the material more sensitive to temperature variations and growth rates.

Richard Mille partnered with Swiss manufacturer Stettler AG and used the Kyropoulos method to create the synthetic crystal, carefully heating aluminum oxide between 2,000 and 2,050°C in a controlled environment. Each sapphire case undergoes over 1,000 hours of milling and polishing to achieve the perfect finish that has become synonymous with Richard Mille’s craftsmanship.

The geometrically designed dials of these timepieces are adorned with diamonds and precious stones, which seamlessly blend with the colors and aesthetics of the watch. Beneath the captivating dial lies the skeletonized caliber CRMA5, an in-house automatic movement that provides a 50-hour power reserve. The watches are paired with navy blue, white, or gray straps. Each watch is limited to 7 pieces, and the price remains available upon request.
