Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch
Welcome to the hub of the horoloy
A collaboration that fuses the designer’s signature aesthetic with Ressence’s approach to time display
“A merge of two universes,” says Benoît Mintiens, founder of Ressence, describing the brand’s new collaboration with industrial designer Marc Newson. The two creative minds join forces to unveil the TYPE 3 MN, a meeting of philosophies from Newson, known for everything from furniture and aircraft interiors to the cult Ikepod watches of the 1990s and even the Apple Watch, and Mintiens, whose work has redefined contemporary time display.
The TYPE 3 MN is more than a collaboration; it is a true fusion of Marc Newson’s pioneering industrial-design language and Benoît Mintiens’ boundary-pushing approach to horological expression.

Its ergonomic, elliptical silhouette, a form Newson has refined over decades, is paired with bold, minimal hands that subtly reference his iconic Ikepod creations. This organic design integrates Newson’s signature aesthetic with Mintiens’ revolutionary oil-filled architecture, driven by Ressence’s patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System), the proprietary display system found in every Ressence timepiece.
The 45 mm Grade 5 titanium case is built around two hermetically sealed chambers: the upper half filled with oil and the lower containing the mechanical base movement. A double-domed sapphire crystal flows seamlessly into the caseband, visually erasing the boundary between glass and metal. Despite its complexity, the watch remains impressively wearable at 15 mm thick and just 95 grams.
Inside the upper chamber, 4.15 ml of silicone oil eliminates the optical distortion caused by light refraction, ensuring perfect legibility from any angle. The result is a magnified display effect that makes the indications appear as though they are projected directly onto the glass, time seemingly floating at the surface. The titanium discs, treated with DLC and PVD coatings, are engraved and filled with blue and green Grade A Super-LumiNova. They are distributed across four eccentric biaxial satellites displaying the hours, minutes, running seconds (180s), day, date, and oil temperature.
A domed sapphire crystal enhances this immersive reading experience, while the rotating caseback serves as the interface for winding and setting, preserving the crownless purity that defines Ressence.
The colour palette blends subtle yet striking celadon green with shades of grey, black, and vivid yellow, offering both clarity and refined visual balance. The Grade 5 titanium discs sit on four satellites inclined at varying angles, including a runner disc, with engraved markings filled in Grade A Super-LumiNova for optimal readability in any lighting condition.

Powering the TYPE 3 MN is Ressence’s patented ROCS 3 module, featuring magnetically driven rotating discs that deliver its distinctive visual dynamic. The system is built on a customised ETA 2824 calibre, magnetically linked to the ROCS mechanism above. It beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and provides a 36-hour power reserve.
The TYPE 3 MN is fitted with a synthetic rubber strap and a titanium pin buckle. It is limited to 80 pieces and priced at CHF 46,000, approximately AED 211,000.
