A bold releases in the brand second collaboration with British designer Tej Chauhan
Rado is known for its pioneering use of materials and innovative design, with the DiaStar standing as one of its most iconic creations. Introduced in 1962 as the world’s first scratchproof watch, the DiaStar was reinterpreted in 2022 with updated dimensions and the inclusion of Ceramos, a composite material that combines ceramic hardness with the toughness and luster of a metal alloy. Now, British industrial designer Tej Chauhan brings his distinctive vision to the DiaStar Original, following his earlier collaboration with Rado on the True Square in 2021.
The DiaStar Original x Tej Chauhan Special Edition stays true to the collection’s helmet-shaped case while introducing bold new elements. The 38mm × 45mm × 11.7mm case features a polished yellow gold-colored PVD-coated Ceramos bezel, seamlessly integrated with a matching middle case. A dark grey PVD-coated stainless steel caseback, engraved with “SPECIAL EDITION TEJ CHAUHAN,” is fitted with a sapphire crystal.
The matte black concave dial features silver and blue printed minute track circles, applied indexes, and a day-date display at 3 o’clock that uses Chauhan’s proprietary font. The date is highlighted in red, while each day of the week appears in a different color. The dial also features hour and minute hands coated with white Super-LumiNova, while the seconds hand stands out in neon yellow.

Powering the watch is the Rado R764 movement, an automatic caliber operating at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) with an 80-hour power reserve. It comes fitted with a grey, pillow-shaped rubber strap secured by a dark grey PVD-coated stainless steel folding clasp, featuring a yellow gold-colored cover and pushers engraved with “Rado x TC.” The watch is priced at USD 2,250, approximately AED 8,300.
