Celebrating 90 years of F. A. Porsche with a limited edition
The relationship between cars and watches has never stood still. From dashboards that inspired dial layouts to motorsport materials that reshaped case construction, the dialogue between automotive design and horology has always been one of constant evolution. Few names embody this connection as naturally as Porsche Design, a studio born from the mind of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the man who shaped one of the most influential automotive silhouettes in history, the Porsche 911, and later translated his philosophy into a new language of product design.

Porsche Design’s first wristwatch was the original Chronograph 1, featuring a fully black case and dial inspired directly by the cockpit of the Porsche 911. More than five decades later, the studio continues to build on that legacy with timepieces that remain deeply tied to the brand’s automotive DNA.

To mark the 90th birthday of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, Porsche Design presents a special interpretation of its most iconic chronograph, the Chronograph 1 F. A. Porsche Limited Edition, released as part of an exclusive collector set paired with the Porsche 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche. The ensemble is limited to 90 units.

The watch is housed in a titanium case measuring 40.8 mm in diameter. The lightweight construction is combined with a black-coated finish that recalls the appearance of the original Chronograph 1 from 1972. A sapphire caseback reveals the movement inside, while water resistance is rated at 100 meters.

The matte black dial follows the original cockpit-inspired layout. At 3 o’clock, the bilingual day-date display features the initials F. A. P. positioned above the aperture, referencing the personal customization found on Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s own watch. A red central chronograph seconds hand adds a subtle motorsport accent to the monochrome composition. The hands and applied indices are treated with a specially toned luminous material that creates a soft vintage-inspired appearance.

Powering the watch is an automatic movement developed by Concepto for Porsche Design and certified by COSC. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 48 hours. The rotor is shaped and finished to mirror the classic Porsche wheel design.

The watch is fitted with a black titanium bracelet and is accompanied by an additional leather strap crafted from truffle brown calf leather with beige stitching. It is produced as a limited edition of 90 pieces, with pricing available upon request.
