Introducing Piaget Expands Limelight Gala Collection with Decor Palace & Snake Scale

The Maison Revives One of Its Most Iconic Traditional Gold-Engraving Techniques

First launched in 1973, the Limelight Gala quickly became a signature piece for Piaget. Designed by Jean-Claude Gueit, the original watch featured an elegant oval case with flowing, diamond-set lugs that appeared to spill over the dial and bracelet, a striking departure from the typically functional role lugs play in watch design.

For Spring 2026, Piaget introduces two new Limelight Gala models, presenting fresh colourways and showcasing the Maison’s mastery of artisanal craftsmanship. These new editions reinterpret one of the brand’s most recognisable designs.

While preserving the elegant silhouette of the original model, the new versions place a stronger emphasis on decorative gold engraving and vibrant colour. Both watches share a 32mm diameter, a 10mm profile, and 18k rose gold cases, yet their aesthetics differ dramatically.

The first model features a vibrant orange Grand Feu enamel dial set over an engraved gold base designed to mimic snakeskin — a technique first introduced on the 2019 Extremely Lady watch. The vivid enamel dial is framed by a serti descendu setting composed of sunset-toned spessartite garnets and diamonds, including 20 white diamonds and 22 spessartites arranged in a warm orange gradient.

The second model draws even deeper from Piaget’s archives, revisiting the historic Decor Palace engraving. First introduced in the 1960s and seen on earlier Limelight Gala watches, the technique involves carving fine lines into the gold using a burin.

As each piece is executed entirely by hand by a master goldsmith, with subtle variations in pressure and angle, every watch acquires its own unique character. This version is set with a gradient of 42 fancy-coloured cognac and white diamonds, with the richer cognac stones placed at the extremities and gradually softening in tone as they approach the dial.

Powering both models is the ultra-thin 501P1 automatic movement, measuring just 3.63mm in thickness. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), the calibre delivers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. Finely decorated, it features a central rotor, bridges adorned with Côtes de Genève patterns, gears with a circular finish, and traditional heat-blued screws securing the bridges, hallmarks of Piaget’s dedication to refined watchmaking.

Both watches retain the defining elements that shaped the identity of the original Limelight Gala, including the supple integrated bracelet designed to provide exceptional comfort on the wrist. The bracelet is crafted from 18k rose gold and features hand engraving in either the "Decor Palace" motif or the "Snake Scale" pattern.
