New 1970s-Inspired Edition Featuring a Blue Meteorite Dial
Piaget is a Swiss luxury brand founded in 1874 in La Côte-aux-Fées by Georges Piaget. The brand started as a watch movement manufacturer before expanding into sophisticated watch designs. Piaget is also known for its technical innovations, particularly in its ultra-thin watches, which are among the thinnest in the world. The brand is distinguished by its intricate in-house movements and its commitment to craftsmanship and luxury. Today, Piaget presents its latest release, the “Andy Warhol Clou de Paris”, inspired by the original Black Tie watch released in the 1970s, which was created in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. This new model celebrates Warhol's artistic legacy while showcasing Piaget's signature style and dedication to exceptional watchmaking.
This unique design features small pyramids-shaped elements in the Clou de Paris pattern, meticulously handcrafted on the challenging curved surfaces of a polished 45mm 18k white gold case. It includes a recessed crown that does not protrude. The case back is securely fastened with eight screws, each decorated with the Piaget logo, and the watch is water-resistant up to 30 meters.
The watch features a blue meteorite dial, showcasing its distinctive crisscrossing Widmanstätten patterns, which are unique structures found in iron meteorites formed by the slow crystallization. Elegant, slim dauphine hour and minute hands complement the minimalist applied indices, while the brand name is subtly engraved in silver for a refined touch.
This timepiece is driven by the in-house Calibre 501P1, an ultra-thin automatic movement that operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and offers a 40-hour power reserve.
It comes with a dark blue alligator leather and white gold buckle, and priced at USD 60,000 which is equivalent to AED 220,000.
