Introducing Patek Philippe Brings Back The Nautilus Chronograph With In White Gold

After discontinuing the Rose Gold edition earlier this year

Earlier this year, Patek Philippe discontinued one of collectors' favorite Nautilus watches when they bid farewell to the 5980R, the rose gold chronograph. Now, the company unveils a new Nautilus Chronograph with the 5980 in White Gold. Launched in 2006 to mark the collection’s 30th anniversary, the Nautilus self-winding flyback chronograph has been available since 2010 in rose gold with a black-brown dial (5980R-001), in rose gold with a black-gradient dial and metal bracelet (5980/1R-001), and in a two-tone steel/rose gold version with a sunburst blue dial (5980/1AR-001). In conjunction with the Watch & Wonders 2024 exhibition, the company is offering a white gold watch with some updates.

Crafted from white gold with dimensions measuring 40.5mm in diameter and 12.2mm in thickness, this timepiece boasts a slimmed-down bezel to enhance the dial's spaciousness. Contrasting polished and satin finishes adorn the case and bezel, emphasizing their elegant design. With a screw-down crown and a water resistance of 30 meters, Its sapphire crystal case back offers a glimpse into the intricate mechanics within, The case design we are used to with the chronograph pushers on the right side with the crown, and the date corrector on the left side.

The dial of this exquisite timepiece captivates with its opaline blue-gray hue, adorned with horizontally embossed texture for added depth. Its elegance is further accentuated by white gold applied baton-style hour markers, each coated with luminous material for enhanced readability in low-light conditions. Complementing these markers are white gold rounded baton-style hands, also coated with luminescent material. Positioned at 6 o'clock is a chronograph monocounter, featuring displays for both 60-minute and 12-hour intervals, adding functional versatility to its sophisticated aesthetic. An applied white gold aperture frame encases the Nautilus "40th anniversary" font, Additionally, the date is displayed in a discrete aperture at 3 o'clock.

Under the sapphire crystal caseback nestled the automatic movement Caliber CH 28-520 C/522. Equipped with a flyback chronograph function and a central chronograph hand, it offers uncompromising performance for timing events with accuracy. The movement features a 60-minute and 12-hour monocounter, seamlessly integrated for enhanced functionality.. With dimensions of 30mm in diameter and 6.63mm in thickness, this movement comprises 327 components, including a 21K gold central rotor. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour (4Hz), it ensures precise timekeeping, supported by a power reserve of 55 hours.

The straps offered with this timepiece include a calfskin strap hand-stitched with a denim pattern in blue-gray, along with an additional composite material strap featuring a fabric pattern in blue-gray, both secured by a Nautilus fold-over clasp crafted in white gold. the watch will join the permanent line and it is priced at CHF 67,000 which is equivalent to 272,000 AED.

The Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 is also the occasion for Patek Philippe to announce an evolution with regard to the international warranty. For all new Patek Philippe watches sold as from May 1 2024, the duration of this warranty increases from two years to five years, counting from the date of purchase.
