Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

Parmigiani Fleurier was established in 1996 by master watch restorer Michel Parmigiani. Since its founding, the brand has captured attention with each new release, reviving techniques that were nearly lost to time while creating watches that highlight noble materials, meticulous finishing, and a philosophy of quiet elegance rather than ostentation.

The Toric collection debuted in the brand’s inaugural year and was reintroduced in 2024 with the Petite Seconde and Chronograph Rattrapante, followed this year by the Quantième Perpétuel. Today, the collection expands with two new interpretations of the Toric Petite Seconde, the Golden Hour in platinum and the Dune in rose gold.

The case measures 40.6 mm in diameter and just 8.8 mm in thickness, crafted in either 950 platinum or 18k rose gold. It features polished surfaces and the Toric’s signature knurled bezel, with sapphire crystals treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.

The Golden Hour variant presents a solid 18k white gold dial with a salmon-toned, hand-grained finish, white the Dune edition adopts a warm sand hue on a solid 18k rose gold dial. Both dials feature 18k gold applied indices and hands with textured surfaces created using a 17th-century brushing technique rediscovered by Michel Parmigiani, along with a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock.

Both watches are powered by the in-house Calibre PF780, a hand-wound movement only 3.15 mm thick. Operating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), it delivers a 60-hour power reserve from twin barrels. The movement is distinguished by its openworked rose gold bridges, adorned with Côtes de Fleurier guilloché, polished bevels, and sandblasted accents.

Each reference is paired with a hand-stitched nubuck alligator leather strap, the Golden Hour is fitted with an Akoya Grey strap secured by a platinum pin buckle, while the Dune comes on a Sand Gold strap with a rose gold buckle. The rose gold Dune is priced at CHF 47,000 (approximately AED 215,150), while the platinum Golden Hour is offered at CHF 54,000 (approximately AED 247,200).
