Celebrating the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse with a limited edition
Panerai created precision instruments for the Italian Navy before becoming one of the world’s most distinctive luxury watchmakers. Among its most celebrated collections is the Radiomir, a model that first appeared in the 1930s and remains a symbol of the brand’s enduring link between Italian craftsmanship and military functionality.
In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year 2026, also known as the Year of the Horse, Panerai introduces the Radiomir 8 Giorni PAM02088, a limited edition that reinterprets one of its most emblematic designs, the Ref. 3646 released in 1940, and gives it a contemporary cultural twist.

The watch is housed in a 45 mm Brunito steel case, a material crafted through a hand-applied process that brushes away a black PVD coating to create a unique, weathered patina. The cushion-shaped design, true to the Radiomir’s wartime origins, gives it a bold presence on the wrist. The case measures 45 mm in diameter and maintains proportions familiar to Panerai enthusiasts. A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the mechanical heart within. The timepiece offers water resistance up to 100 meters.

The dial pays tribute to the California layout, historically known for combining Roman and Arabic numerals. In this reinterpretation, Chinese characters replace the Arabic numerals at 4, 5, 7, and 8, while Roman numerals remain at 10, 11, 1, and 2. The dial features a black-to-anthracite gradient, paired with metallic blue burnished steel hands obtained through a controlled oxidation process. Beige Super-LumiNova X1 coating on the numerals and hands ensures optimal legibility in low light.

Powering the watch is the Caliber P.5000, a hand-wound mechanical movement delivering an impressive eight-day power reserve. This in-house caliber has been a hallmark of the brand since the 1950s and is visible through the sapphire caseback. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz).

The watch is paired with a dark green calf leather strap, fitted with a Brunito steel pin buckle that complements the case finish. It is limited to 300 pieces and will first be released in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore before becoming available in the US, UK, Switzerland, and the Middle East in early 2026. The watch is priced at EUR 12,700 (approximately AED 53,600).
