A timepiece inspired by ancient Mediterranean art treasures
Panerai has unveiled the Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition, an exclusive timepiece that seamlessly combines the brand's rich heritage with its adventurous spirit. This limited-edition watch evokes the Mediterranean's allure, drawing inspiration from the restored Bermudian ketch Eilean, a vessel Panerai helped restore in 2007.
The trips Panerai organizes alongside the Experience Editions provide access to exclusive destinations typically off-limits and unavailable for purchase. Owners of the watch will discover the specifics of the Sicily journey through direct communication with Panerai, offering an opportunity to explore the cultural treasures of the region.
Housed in a 45mm cushion-shaped case crafted from Brunito steel, Italian for "burnished", the watch features a unique aged aesthetic. The Brunito steel undergoes a PVD coating, followed by a specialized "burnished" finish, involving polishing, black coating. Complementing the design, the round bezel, crown, and medallion caseback are made from bronze salvaged during Eilean's restoration.
The dial boasts a stunning beige gradient pattern, reminiscent of Eilean's sails. It features a sandwich construction and Super-LumiNova coating on the hands and indices, ensuring optimal legibility even in low-light conditions. A small seconds subdial is positioned at 9 o’clock, while an emblem at 3 o’clock bears the inscription "8 Giorni Brevettato," highlighting the movement's remarkable 8-day power reserve.
At the heart of the watch is the Panerai P.5000, a hand-wound calibre operating at 21,600 vph (3 Hz). As we mentioned, this robust movement offers an impressive 8-day (192-hour) power reserve. Completing the design, the back of the case features a bronze medallion engraved with "Eilean" and the year of the yacht’s maiden voyage.
The watch is paired with a dark brown calfskin strap, accented by beige stitching and secured with a trapezoidal pin buckle crafted from the same Brunito steel as the case. Adding a touch of historical significance, the strap features a special engraving marked "1936," honoring the year Eilean was first launched. The watch is limited to 30 pieces, and the price is available upon request.
