A classic icon, reimagined in black ceramic with a distinctive blend of functions
Panerai has unveiled the Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01574, coinciding with its role as the official timekeeper of the Salone del Mobile, the world’s largest and most prestigious international design fair, held annually in Milan since 1961.
This new model merges the historic design of the Luminor, Panerai’s iconic diving watch, with modern high-tech materials, combining black ceramic and titanium for enhanced performance and durability.
Housed in a 44 mm case crafted entirely from black zirconium oxide ceramic, the watch undergoes a meticulous production process. The ceramic powder is molded and sintered at high temperatures, producing a dense material resistant to scratches, corrosion, and extreme heat. Final finishing is achieved by artisans using diamond-tipped tools, giving the case its precise curves and surfaces.
The case contrasts matte sandblasted areas with polished details, creating a contemporary, sophisticated finish. Signature to the Luminor, the robust crown-protecting bridge with its locking lever remains in place, while the reverse side features a smoked sapphire crystal caseback anchored by a Grade 5 titanium base. True to Panerai standards, the watch guarantees 300 meters of water resistance, tested to 25% beyond its stated depth rating.
At the front, the dial showcases Panerai’s iconic sandwich construction, an invention from the late 1930s. A luminous lower layer sits beneath a top disc cut with numerals, ensuring excellent legibility.
The dial itself is decorated with a blue sunray finish, paired with white Super-LumiNova X2 for outstanding visibility. The numerals, hands, and small seconds at 9 o’clock emit a green glow, while the GMT hand and power reserve indicator at 5 o’clock glow blue, offering intuitive dual-color luminous cues. A beveled date window appears at 3 o’clock, just above the power reserve display marked with the Italian word ore “hours”.
Powering the PAM01574 is the automatic calibre P.9012, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with a 72-hour power reserve delivered by twin barrels. Unlike some manufactures that lower the frequency to extend autonomy, Panerai maintains high frequency for better precision, an aspect we previously explored in detail in our article on movement frequency.
The calibre also includes a quick-set function, allowing the hour hand and date to be adjusted independently in either direction. When the crown is pulled out, the balance wheel stops, and the small seconds hand resets to zero, enabling precise time-setting. Technical finesse is matched by refined finishing: bridges and rotor brushed in grey tones to harmonize with the case, while gears and the balance wheel stand out in warm gold accents.
Completing the package, the PAM01574 comes with two strap options. The first is a black alligator leather strap secured by a titanium buckle treated in black to match the case.

The second is a blue rubber strap for a sportier look. Both are equipped with Panerai’s PAM Click Release System, allowing effortless strap changes without tools.
The Panerai Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01574 is priced at CHF 14,800 (approx. AED 62,000).
