A new addition to the diving watch collection in a stunning blue hue
Oris was founded in 1904 in the Swiss town of Holstein, and is one of the few independent companies in the business. It offers a variety of collections, including the Aquis collection, which includes Great Barrier Reef watch and other versions we talked about earlier, and now the company is releasing the new "Aquis Chronograph", which features a dial that Oris describes as a “smiley face,” named for the arrangement of the distinctive chronograph counters on the dial.
The watch features a 43.50 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 16.2 mm, offering a robust water resistance of 300 meters. It comes equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with a ceramic insert. The dial is safeguarded by a double-domed sapphire crystal, while the exhibition case back is crafted from mineral glass. The case includes a screw-down crown, along with chronograph pushers positioned at 2 and 4 o'clock for easy adjustment.
The blue dial has a darker blue gradient around its edges and a Tri-Compax chronograph layout, with a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, and a 12-hour counter with a date window at 6 o'clock. The central hour, minute, and chronograph seconds hands, as well as the subdial hands, are coated with white Super-Luminova for enhanced clarity. The dial is framed by a minute track, maintaining the Aquis's iconic look.
The new Oris Aquis Chronograph is driven by the Oris Calibre 771, an automatic chronograph movement boasting a 62-hour power reserve and 27 jewels. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). It comes with a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp and is priced at CHF 4,400, equivalent to AED 18,480.
