Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch

Marking the brand’s 75th anniversary with its first meteorite-dial timepiece
Orient Star was founded in 1951 and conceived as the advanced counterpart to Orient, with a clear emphasis on mechanical watchmaking, proprietary movements, and incremental. This philosophy is paired with a design language that frequently turns to astronomy as a metaphor for precision and ambition.

That celestial thread runs most clearly through the brand’s modern “M” collections. Each of these lines is linked to a specific constellation or star cluster. The M34, for example, is named after Messier 34 in the Perseus constellation. For its 75th anniversary, the brand looks to one of the most evocative phenomena associated with Perseus, the annual Perseid meteor shower, and introduces the M34 F8 Date Meteorite, the first Orient Star watch to feature a meteorite dial.

The case measures 40 mm in diameter with a thickness of 12.9 mm and is crafted from stainless steel. Its proportions are designed for daily wear, avoiding the extremes of either tool-watch ruggedness or dress-watch delicacy. Finishing alternates between brushed and polished surfaces. Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal caseback that offers a clear view of the movement inside. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.

The dial is cut from natural meteorite, and its silver-grey surface displays the Widmanstätten pattern formed through millions of years of cooling in space. Each dial is visually unique, ensuring that no two examples are exactly alike. The layout remains deliberately composed, with central hours, minutes, and seconds, a date window positioned at 3 o’clock, and the brand’s signature power reserve indicator placed beneath the Roman numeral at 12.

Powering the watch is the in-house calibre F8N64, an automatic movement operating at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz) with a power reserve of 60 hours. The movement underscores the technical separation between Orient Star and Orient, incorporating a silicon escapement component to reduce friction and enhance resistance to magnetic interference.

The watch is paired with a stainless steel bracelet fitted with a deployant clasp. Production is limited to 255 pieces, with pricing set at €3,249, approximately AED 14,000.
