Introducing Orient Star Expands the F7 Mechanical Moon Phase Collection

Three Editions Strengthen the Japanese Brand’s High-End Portfolio

Orient Star expands its flagship F7 Mechanical Moon Phase collection with three new dial variations. White and navy blue dials join the regular lineup, while a light blue version is introduced as a limited edition of 190 pieces. First launched in 2017, the F7 Mechanical Moon Phase is defined by a distinctive and well-balanced display built around three key visual elements.

At 6 o’clock, the moon phase complication takes center stage within a dual-purpose sub-dial that also incorporates a radial date scale around its perimeter, indicated by a central leaf-shaped hand. Above it, positioned beneath 12 o’clock, sits the power reserve indicator—an emblematic feature found across all Orient Star timepieces. Completing the layout is the open-heart aperture at 9 o’clock, revealing the oscillating balance and adding a dynamic mechanical touch to the dial.

Much like Grand Seiko and Seiko, Orient Star represents the premium expression of its parent brand Orient, defined by elevated finishing standards and an authentically Japanese design philosophy. This approach is often inspired by nature, subtly reflected here through texture, depth, and light interaction across the dial surface.

The 41mm stainless steel case is crafted from high-quality SUS316L alloy and measures 49mm lug-to-lug with a thickness of 13.8mm. A sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while water resistance is rated at 50 meters. The ergonomically shaped conical crown allows for intuitive adjustment of the time, date, and moon phase functions.

Surrounding the dial is a fluted chapter ring adorned with classical Roman numerals and a minute track, partially intersected by the dial apertures at 6, 8, and 9 o’clock. This fluted frame also overlaps the semi-skeletonized section, enhancing the sense of depth. The white dial is paired with blued hands for enhanced contrast and legibility, while the navy blue and light blue versions feature polished steel hands. The navy blue dial further distinguishes itself with darkened scales for the date and power reserve, whereas the white and light blue dials employ steel-toned bases for these indications.

At the center of the dial, a subtle repeating Orient Star “OS” motif is embossed across the surface, revealing itself only under certain lighting angles. This refined texture is framed by the gently curved fluted ring, carefully shaped to accommodate the arc of the power reserve indicator.

Powering the watch is the in-house automatic caliber F7M42, offering a power reserve of 50 hours and an accuracy rating of +15/-5 seconds per day. The movement can be admired through the sapphire exhibition case back.

The bracelet, also crafted from SUS316L stainless steel, features 20mm end links and a butterfly deployant clasp with push-button release. The white and navy blue dial versions are delivered with an additional black cordovan leather strap, while the light blue limited edition comes with an extra navy blue leather strap.

The white and navy blue models join the permanent collection, each priced at EUR 1,800 (approximately AED 7,780). The light blue dial, limited to 190 pieces, is priced at EUR 1,900 (approximately AED 8,210).
