Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m, a new watch inspired by the swedish flag colors
Omega has been the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, playing a critical role in ensuring the precision and accuracy of event timing. Their expertise in timekeeping has contributed to the fairness and excitement of the Games for decades. This year, the Olympic Games will be held in Paris, and to celebrate this momentous event, Omega has released several special edition timepieces. Among these is the Speedmaster Chronoscope Paris 2024 Edition.
Omega has now released a new edition of its Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m, paying tribute to one of the greatest pole vaulters in history, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis. This watch, celebrating Duplantis’ astonishing world records and his status as the current Olympic champion, features colors inspired by the Swedish flag.
He won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships and is a three-time European champion, having secured titles in 2018, 2022, and 2024. In 2018, he set the current world under-20 record. Duplantis also claimed gold at the 2022 World Indoor Championships and the 2021 European Indoor Championships. On April 20th of this year, he broke the world record for the eighth time, setting a new height of 6.24 meters.
The watch comes in a 41mm diameter case with a 13.2mm thickness. Crafted from stainless steel, the case showcases a blend of brushed and polished finishes. It is protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating and has a screwed case back with a sapphire crystal.
The dial comes in blue with a horizontal teak pattern, it features the Seamaster name and quarter-hour numbers in yellow, and the second hand is inspired by pole vaulting and is varnished in yellow with a Super-LumiNova tip. The dial also features rhodium-plated hands and indices coated with Super-LumiNova, and a date window positioned at 6 o'clock.
