A new case and a new black ceramic bezel for the iconic diving watch
Nivada Grenchen timepieces have been a vital part of the Swiss watchmaking industry since 1926. The brand set a milestone with the Depthmaster, which had 1,000 meters of water resistance and became one of Nivada Grenchen’s top sellers until it was discontinued in the late 1970s. After years of inactivity, the brand was revived in 2020 under the direction of Guillaume Laidet, who reintroduced its two iconic models, the renowned Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver and the Depthmaster. In 2023, the brand also reintroduced the F77, its iconic sport-chic watch from the seventies. This collection was further expanded during Watches and Wonders 2024.
The brand now unveils a bronze version of the Depthmaster, with a 39mm in diameter, and 13mm in thickness while maintaining its predecessor's cushion-shaped profile. Bronze is known for its corrosion resistance, making it a fitting choice for a dive watch. For the Depthmaster Bronze, Nivada Grenchen chose a CuAl8 copper-aluminum bronze alloy, composed of 92% copper and 8% aluminum. This alloy was selected because the aluminum oxides that form on the surface upon exposure enhance the metal's corrosion resistance.

A new feature of this edition is the matte black ceramic bezel insert with bronze-colored markings and a luminous pip inside the inverted triangle. Previous models had the original steel diving bezel with a 15-minute count-up scale, but this has now been extended to time immersions of up to 30 minutes. The watch maintains a 1,000m water resistance, a screw-down crown, a 12-sided stainless steel case back, and a helium escape valve on the left side of the case.

The matte black dial features Pac-Man index numerals, inspired by a Japanese arcade game that took the world by storm, eventually earning the dive watch its nickname. These Pac-Man indices, applied onto the dial, are raised with a bronze-colored border and filled with white Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility. The hands are similarly colored in bronze and include Super-LumiNova inserts.

The watch is powered by the SOPROD P024 caliber, an automatic movement with a frequency of 28,800vph (4Hz), offering a power reserve of 38 hours. It comes with seven straps, including a black Tropic rubber strap, sporty-style straps, and leather straps in black and brown, with or without white stitching. The new Depthmaster Bronze is priced at CHF 1,600, equivalent to AED 6,500.
