A Dive Watch from the 1960s Returns with a Contemporary Twist
Nivada Grenchen continues its mission to revive historic models by unveiling the Antarctic Diver Aquamar, a watch inspired by designs from the brand’s late 1960s catalog.
This new release merges classic dive watch aesthetics with refined technical upgrades, creating a timepiece that balances heritage and modernity.
Crafted from 316L stainless steel, the Antarctic Diver Aquamar features a 38 mm case and a thickness of 12.9 mm. The combination of brushed and polished surfaces gives it a utilitarian yet elegant appearance.
A bidirectional bezel fitted with a black ceramic insert provides precise timing functionality while preserving the vintage diving style. The solid screw-down caseback is engraved with the brand’s emblematic penguin on a gold medallion, a tribute to the collection’s Antarctic roots.
The dial is offered in three matte color options: blue, black, and grey. A standout feature is the sandwich-style construction, which adds depth by recessing the hour markers and revealing the luminous layer underneath.
Enhancing this layered look is a unique date display. The calendar disc rotates to show different shades of Super-LumiNova, either white or beige, depending on its position. This rare yet practical feature is adjusted via the crown.
Inside the case beats the automatic Soprod P024 movement. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of 38 hours.
Nivada Grenchen offers a wide selection of straps and bracelets, including stitched or unstitched leather, racing-style leather, Tropic-style rubber, as well as two stainless steel options: a beads-of-rice bracelet and a flat-link bracelet.
The Antarctic Diver Aquamar is part of the brand’s Permanent Line and is priced at USD 1,050, which is approximately AED 3,855.
