Two limited editions with red touches paying homage to the Chinese Year of the Dragon
TAG Heuer, the Swiss watchmaker renowned for its fusion of performance and style, celebrated a significant milestone in 2020 - its 160th anniversary. To commemorate this occasion, TAG Heuer unveiled the Carrera Chronograph 42mm, a timepiece that skillfully bridges the gap between heritage and contemporary design. Retaining its racing-inspired roots, the Carrera Chronograph 42mm continues to cater to aficionados of sports cars.
In anticipation of the Chinese New Year On 10 February 2024, which welcomes the Year of the Dragon, TAG Heuer has unveiled two exclusive limited-editions. These watches are distinguished by their striking red accents, a color deeply symbolic of Chinese celebrations and cultural heritage, that pays homage to the Chinese New Year festivities.
The cases measure 42mm in diameter and 14.33mm in thickness, available in either polished and brushed stainless steel or elegant 18k rose gold. The domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment enhances the dial's visibility, while the sapphire crystal caseback is adorned with a printed Chinese dragon.
The stainless steel model features a silver sunray-brushed dial, while the rose gold model is adorned with a rose gold-plated and sunray-brushed dial. Both versions showcase two red, snailed chronograph counters: one positioned at 3 o'clock for the 30-minute counter, and the other at 9 o'clock for the 12-hour counter. A running seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock includes a date function and a Chinese calligraphic dragon character. The applied indices with red lacquer and a red lacquered central chronograph seconds hand, with Super-LumiNova on the tips of the indices and hour and minute hands for enhanced readability.
Powering these timepieces is the Calibre Heuer 02, an in-house automatic chronograph movement that operates at 28,800 vph (4Hz) and provides 80 hours power reserve.

Complementing the design is a Burgundy alligator strap, paired with a steel folding clasp with double-safety push buttons for the steel model and a rose gold pin buckle for the rose gold model. These timepieces are limited editions, with the stainless steel version limited to 300 pieces with a price of CHF 6,150 which is equivalent to AED 24,600, and the rose gold version limited to just 50 pieces with a price of CHF 22,000 which is equivalent to AED 88,000.
To complement the Carrera Chronograph Year of the Dragon, a specially crafted box has been designed. Echoing the watch's distinctive red hue, this elegant case is further enhanced with the Chinese Dragon symbol, in a beige tone.
