The fifth iteration of the C, with a beige hand-engraved dial
Romain Gauthier is a Swiss independent watchmaker known for producing high-end, intricately designed timepieces. Founded in 2005 by Romain Gauthier, the brand has garnered attention from the horological community for its commitment to traditional craftsmanship, technical innovation, and artistry. The brand introduced the 'C' sports watch in 2021, encapsulating over 16 years of Romain Gauthier expertise.
Today, with the unveiling of the fifth version of the 'C' watch, it retains defining characteristics of its predecessors, most notably the iconic titanium case. However, this iteration introduces an artistic flair, a hand-engraved beige dial subtly accented with touches of burgundy, enhancing the allure of the iconic design.
The watch boasts a 41mm diameter with a slender height of 9.55mm, and 49.5mm lug-to-lug distance. It's crafted from brushed and polished Grade 5 titanium, and topped by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, graces both the front and the back of the watch, ensuring a clear view of its workings and dial. An intriguing feature is the offset crown adorned with a burgundy rubber ring. With a 50m water-resistance and weighing in at 55g, it's as functional as it is elegant.
The beige dial is hand-engraved, and crafted from Grade 5 titanium, with a protective layer shielding it against UV rays, ensuring the dial retains its beautiful appearance. The off-centered 3D hours and minutes hands are complemented by small seconds positioned at 7 o'clock with burgundy indices. Additionally, the 18k white gold hands, numerals, and hour markers are coated with Super-LumiNova, ensuring time readability even in low light.
The watch is powered by the in-house developed manual winding caliber. Constructed from grade 5 titanium plates and bridges, it beats at a 28,800vph and boasts 60 hours of power reserve. It also features a circular spoked ratchet wheel, gears with beveled and polished angles, and Romain Gauthier's signature balance wheel, and hand-decorated bridges, showcasing the brand's dedication to artistry.
Complementing the watch's aesthetic is a choice between a burgundy or gray rubber strap, secured by a brushed and polished Grade 5 titanium pin buckle. This timepiece is a 38-piece limited edition, with a price of CHF 39,000 which is equivalent to AED 160,000.
