Gerald Charles Unveils Its Most Complex Timepiece, The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar

Gerald Charles, the independent Swiss watchmaking Maison founded by the great Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, unveils its most complicated watch since its reestablishment less than a decade ago. The Masterlink Perpetual Calendar, developed entirely in-house, marks a new chapter for the young and ambitious Maison as it continues to expand its repertoire of poetic complications.

In keeping with Gerald Charles’s “No Compromise” watchmaking philosophy, established by Mr. Genta more than a quarter of a century ago, the Masterlink Perpetual Calendar introduces an in-house, asymmetrical, automatic perpetual calendar calibre with a three-counter display.

In conjunction with Dubai Watch Week ArtyA has unveiled a unique piece that embodies both the spirit of Dubai and the innovation of ArtyA, The 'Curvy Purity Tourbillon NanoSaphir Emerald.'

The heart of this masterpiece lies in its striking case material, NanoSaphir, measuring 38.5 mm x 43 mm. This cutting-edge technology enables the tinting of sapphire at the molecular level, resulting in a pure, totally transparent case aesthetic. The watch's tonneau-shaped case, designed by Jérémie Arpa, son of the brand’s founder Yvan Arpa, is crafted to ensure perfect axial symmetry and features a crown strategically placed at 12 o'clock. The choice of emerald green not only adds a vibrant splash of color but also carries significant symbolism. Reflecting the hues of the UAE flag, it embodies joy, optimism, bravery, and courage

The openworked subdial, positioned under 12 o'clock, is iron-sandblasted and hand-beveled, featuring dauphine hour and minute hands. Upon glancing at the watch, one can notice the parallel-mounted double barrel, offering a 72-hour power reserve. The redesigned 'Curvy Purity Tourbillon' movement is a testament to ArtyA's commitment to innovation in watchmaking. It boasts a grand 17.2-millimeter 4 Hz tourbillon that appears to levitate within the case, providing a nice view of its rotation. The tourbillon is further enhanced by its iron-sandblasted and hand-beveled finishes on the cage and the upper tourbillon bridge, adding to its visual appeal.

The Curvy movement is the newest addition to the Purity Tourbillon collection, a series of movements created exclusively for ArtyA. Distinguished by its striking axial symmetry, the Curvy Purity Tourbillon movement represents the pinnacle of technical and aesthetic as it sits on a brushed and polished train wheel bridge. The watch comes with a recycled black leather strap, with a pin buckle. Priced at CHF 155,000 which is equivalent to AED 631,300.
