Introducing Ming Expands the 37.02 Collection with the Ghost Edition

Crafted Entirely from Grade 2 Titanium, Showcasing the Raw Elegance of the Robust Metal

Ming continues its journey in the world of luxury watches, following a strong start for this Malaysian brand, which opened a factory in Switzerland last year, while keeping its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital. The brand maintains its constant focus on unique design and innovative materials. Now, Ming presents its latest release: the Ming 37.02 Ghost, a timepiece made entirely of titanium, embodying the brand’s commitment to modern design and technical precision.

Crafted entirely from Grade 2 titanium, including the case, dial, and buckle, the watch showcases a variety of brushed surface textures applied in different directions. Spearheaded by Ming Thein, this meticulous approach results in a visually striking interplay of matte finishes. Grade 2 titanium, a purer form of the metal (99.8%), offers excellent corrosion resistance but is notoriously difficult to machine due to its ductility. The result is an incredibly lightweight watch weighing just 35 grams.

Measuring 38mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, the case retains the sleek silhouette of the 37.03 collection, featuring the brand’s signature large notched crown and elegant lugs. The full brushed finish lends the watch a raw, industrial edge.

Though originally rated for 100 meters of water resistance, testing revealed the 37.02 Ghost could withstand pressures equivalent to 260 meters. This unexpected performance, achieved through the use of Grade 2 titanium, pressure-balanced domed crystals, and refined internal construction, surpasses that of some dedicated dive watches. Nonetheless, MING chose to retain the 100m rating on the caseback.

The dial, also made from titanium, features circular brushing at its center and radial brushing on the sloping flange, creating bright, almost luminous surfaces. In low light, the brushed elements glow blue thanks to Super-LumiNova X1 applied to the hands and the underside of the crystal. This use of liquid Super-LumiNova—an approach familiar to MING enthusiasts, creates the illusion of floating indexes, which complement the layered dial architecture beautifully.

Under the sapphire crystal case back, the customized automatic caliber SW300-1 from Sellita is exposed, which is the same movement used in MING’s famous diving watch, the MING 37.09 Bluefin and Minimalist Edition. Featuring anthracite open-worked bridges and a rotor. It operates at a frequency of 4Hz, includes a stop-seconds mechanism, and offers a 50-hour power reserve.

The watch is fitted with a grey goat leather strap secured by a Grade 2 titanium tuck buckle. The MING 37.02 Ghost is a limited edition of 250 pieces, priced at CHF 3,500, approximately AED 15,750.
