Introducing Meistersinger Goes Back to Simple Times and Unveils the Pangaea Day Date 365

The brand’s first serially produced timepiece, inspired by the roots of horology

Until the 18th century, various timekeeping devices such as church towers, table clocks, and wall clocks, utilized only a single hand for indicating time. It was not until the onset of modern times and the rise of industrialization that the need for measuring increasingly shorter time intervals arose. Consequently, clocks began to incorporate minute and second hands. MeisterSinger, a German brand, delves into the roots of horology, showcasing the tranquility that can be found in pocket watches.

Now, the brand is broadening its extensive collection by introducing the Pangaea Day Date 365. This timepiece exudes a more classical aesthetic, representing the inaugural MeisterSinger model with a vintage-inspired design to be manufactured in series.

The stainless steel case retains the same specifications as the previous editions, featuring a 40mm diameter, 10.5mm thickness, and sapphire crystal that protects the dial. However, in contrast to the earlier version, the case is now polished, lending it a more elegant presence on the wrist.

Despite the abundance of information presented on the dial, the layout remains surprisingly clear, arranged on three concentric rings that decrease in size towards the center. Beginning with the minute chapter ring, which showcases hours, half an hour, quarter hour, and five-minute intervals, the second ring displays the date, while the innermost ring indicates the day of the week. When you look closely you will realize that  small red dots adorn the peripheral chapter ring, marking the 30 minute intervals, and two red indicators positioned at 12 o'clock indicate the date and day of the week. One of the most noticeable features of the dial is the extra-long central hand, reminiscent of those found on historical pocket watches. This single hand features a solid black circle at its center, flanked by a sharp arrow-shaped head, perfectly aligning with the peripheral minutes track.

The sapphire crystal caseback provides a glimpse of the Sellita SW200 automatic movement. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), it offers a power reserve of 38 hours. The central rotor is personalized with the MeisterSinger logo. The watch comes with a leather strap in a rich cognac hue, with a crocodile print.
