A limited edition timepiece to commemorate the reopening of Notre-Dame church
One of the most iconic churches in the world and a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, Notre-Dame de Paris, commonly known as Notre-Dame, stands in the heart of Paris. The church suffered significant damage in the April 2019 fire, which destroyed much of its roof, including the iconic spire. Extensive restoration efforts have been underway since, with the reopening scheduled for December 8, 2024. To commemorate this occasion, MeisterSinger has collaborated with Parisian retailer Ocarat to release the Edition Notre-Dame.
The watch features a stainless steel case measuring 43 mm in diameter and 14.95 mm in thickness, with a domed sapphire crystal protecting the dial. A pusher at 2 o’clock allows the wearer to switch the chiming of the Bell Hora on or off. The transparent caseback reveals a graphic of a rose window, inspired by the iconic large rose windows of Notre-Dame.
The sandstone-colored dial has been beautifully milled to showcase the rose window of Notre-Dame, with a dark blue sunburst beneath it. Each line in the outer circle of MeisterSinger’s single-hand watches represents exactly 5 minutes, with the red tipped hand serving as both the hour and minute indicator.
The watch is driven by the MS Bell automatic movement, which incorporates a chiming module uniquely developed by MeisterSinger and is based on the Sellita SW200, and that we saw in Anton Bruckner Edition. Over a 60-minute period, it accumulates the energy needed to deliver a well-timed strike against the sound fork positioned behind the dial. The strike module can be disengaged using the pusher located above the crown, allowing the watch to operate silently. This movement runs at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and provides a power reserve of 38 hours.
The watch comes with a cowhide leather strap that is tanned with oak bark hue, it is limited to 70 pieces and is priced at EUR 4,599, equivalent to AED 18,500.
