Introducing MB&F HM8 Mark 2: A Horological Tribute to Automotive Dreams

Unveiling the Most Technologically Advanced Timepiece in MB&F's Automotive-Inspired Series

MB&F, the renowned independent watchmaking brand known for its avant-garde creations, has introduced its latest horological masterpiece: the HM8 Mark 2. Building upon a decade-long legacy of automotive-inspired timepieces, this new model represents a remarkable fusion of engineering, design, and a lifelong dream.

Maximilian Büsser, the founder of MB&F, has always been captivated by automobiles. From a young age, his passion for car design ignited a relentless pursuit of his dreams. Although fate led him to the world of watchmaking, the dream of combining his two passions never waned. Now, with the HM8 Mark 2, Büsser has finally realized his childhood ambition in the form of a timepiece that embodies the daring spirit of the automotive world.

The HM8 Mark 2 pays homage to the iconic designs of the past while incorporating cutting-edge technology. The watch features an instantly recognizable speedometer-style display reminiscent of the 1970s, a signature element seen across MB&F's automotive-inspired creations. This model, however, surpasses its predecessors in terms of technological advancements and design evolution.

Drawing inspiration from various automotive sources, the HM8 Mark 2 showcases a meticulously crafted chassis construction. Like a high-performance car, the timepiece features an independent water-resistant chassis, onto which the body panels are added. This construction method ensures durability and reinforces the connection between horology and automotive engineering.

One of the remarkable innovations of the HM8 Mark 2 is the use of CarbonMacrolon®, a proprietary composite material developed exclusively for MB&F. This material, injected with carbon nanotubes, provides exceptional strength, rigidity, and versatility. With a weight eight times lighter than steel, CarbonMacrolon® empowers the watch to embody both technical prowess and captivating aesthetics.

Beneath the sleek exterior lies a marvel of watchmaking technology. The HM8 Mark 2 boasts a complex titanium chassis, challenging to mill due to the alloy's hardness. The CarbonMacrolon® body panels, milled from a single block, add a layer of sophistication to the watch's construction.

Continuing MB&F's tradition of pushing boundaries, the HM8 Mark 2 features a double-curved sapphire crystal, an engineering feat that surpasses the complexity of dome sapphires by 30 to 40 times. Only one supplier was up to the task of crafting this crystal, which required meticulous hours of production while navigating the risk of breakage. Once integrated into the timepiece, the sapphire crystal exhibits the robustness expected from a sports watch.

At the heart of the HM8 Mark 2 lies a meticulously engineered movement powered by an intricately crafted battle axe rotor. Each of the 22-carat gold blades, measuring a mere two-tenths of a millimeter, is stamped with pre-incorporated engraving, a testament to MB&F's dedication to precision and innovation.

Noteworthy among the HM8 Mark 2's hidden features is a world-premiere crown, which employs a unique "double de-clutch" system inspired by automotive technology. This design allows for space optimization and provides enhanced security, a valuable asset for a sports watch.

The HM8 Mark 2 invites MB&F enthusiasts to embark on a journey of refined technicality, enhanced legibility, and irresistible allure. This timepiece encapsulates the brand's relentless pursuit of pushing boundaries and serves as a reminder that dreams can manifest themselves, even if the path takes unexpected turns.

MB&F's latest creation, the HM8 Mark 2, stands as a testament to Maximilian Büsser's unwavering pursuit of his childhood dream. By seamlessly blending his passion for automobiles with his love for horology, he has crafted a timepiece that transcends boundaries, captivates the imagination, and inspires us all to chase our dreams—no matter where they may lead.

As the HM8 Mark 2 joins the illustrious lineage of automotive-inspired timepieces, MB&F continues to push the envelope of watchmaking artistry, daring us to dream bigger and reach further.
