Introducing Maurice Lacroix Unveils Three Editions of the Aikon Automatic Skeleton Watch

When a luxury watch brand reintroduces a timepiece with subtle updates, it is often a clear indication of the original model’s success and lasting appeal. This is precisely the case with the Maurice Lacroix Aikon collection, first launched in 2016. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s iconic Calypso series from the 1990s, the Aikon is a modern reinterpretation that preserves the essence of its predecessor while incorporating contemporary design elements.

Following the success of the Aikon, the brand continued to stay attuned to market demands, launching updated versions. This move capitalized on the popularity of the monochromatic 39mm model released in 2022, solidifying the Aikon’s place as one of the brand’s most sought-after collections. As the new year begins, the Swiss brand has announced a fresh update to the Aikon Automatic Skeleton, introducing new color variations and sizes.

The new versions are available in both 39mm and 42mm case sizes, with each maintaining a slim profile at just 11mm in thickness. Crafted from high-quality stainless steel, these timepieces feature six claws on the bezel and combination of brushed and polished finishes, providing a sophisticated yet rugged appearance. Both versions are equipped with an open caseback, allowing a clear view of the intricate movement within. With a water resistance of up to 200 meters, these new releases are as Designed to withstand water use.

The new versions are distinguished by their striking skeleton dials, designed to capture both light and attention. Both the 39mm and 42mm versions feature a sapphire dial with a translucent blue varnish, paired with a grey flange, creating a deep, rich tone that enhances the watch’s sophisticated appeal. In contrast, the 42mm version also offers an option with a translucent grey varnish and grey flange, providing a more subtle and understated aesthetic. The rhodium-plated indexes and the rhodium faceted hour and minute hands are complemented by white Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility in low light. A white-printed minute track around the edges of the dial further elevates the timepiece’s precision and design, making it as functional as it is visually captivating.

The watch is powered by the ML135 automatic movement, at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), ensuring smooth and reliable timekeeping. With a 38-hour power reserve, the watch is capable of maintaining its performance even after a day of non-use. The movement features decorated with perlage, the movement boasts an intricate finish that enhances its visual appeal. The rotor is rhodium-plated and proudly adorned with the signature M-logo, underscoring the high level of craftsmanship.

It comes with a stainless steel bracelet, and priced at CHF 3,450 approximately AED 14,500.
