The brand’s retrograde complication in its finest form
Maurice Lacroix has spent the past five decades developing proprietary mechanical displays that are rarely attempted in its segment. Since the late 1990s, the Manufacture has cultivated an unusually deep concentration of retrograde mechanisms developed in-house, gradually establishing the complication as one of its defining technical signatures. This long-term investment in proprietary calibres and display architecture has produced a catalogue that leans confidently toward mechanical experimentation, positioning Maurice Lacroix among the few accessible brands to offer a genuinely in-house complication category.
The brand opens the year with the Master Grand Date Retrograde, its most accomplished expression of the retrograde display to date. The watch is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 42 mm in diameter, 13 mm in thickness, featuring a mix of brushed and polished surfaces and crowned by an expansive box-shaped sapphire crystal that defines the model’s elevated profile. A sapphire exhibition caseback reveals the movement within.

The skeletonised dial is set against black rhodium-treated base surfaces that generate striking visual contrast. Trapeze-style hour and minute hands are treated with white Super-LumiNova. The display is structured around a prominent double-disc large date, while a retrograde day indication occupies the lower portion of the dial.

Powering the watch is the in-house Masterpiece calibre ML302. This automatic movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of 38 hours. The calibre is finished with Geneva stripes, perlage, and snailing decoration.

The watch is fitted with a black calf leather strap featuring an alligator-style texture and is equipped with the Maurice Lacroix Easy Strap Exchange system. The price is set at CHF 6,950, approximately AED 31,900.
