Introducing Louis Vuitton Releases The Tambour Moon Flying Tourbillon Kaleidoscope

Handcrafted Kaleidoscope Pattern, Homage To LV’s Iconic Monogram Flower

Louis Vuitton, a name known for high-end fashion and luxury, has entered the world of horology with the Tambour watch. "Tambour" is French for "drum," which relates to the shape of the case, making its debut in 2002 as a traveler's watch with a GMT function. In 2011, Louis Vuitton took full ownership of La Fabrique du Temps, a renowned institution that has since become the central hub for all of the brand's watchmaking endeavors.

Over the years, the “Tambour watch” has evolved and captured the essence of modern luxury with steel models, as well as solid 18k yellow or 18k rose gold models, offering a sporty yet luxurious aesthetic, since then the watch has garnered attention from the watchmaking community and the fashion world.

In October 2022, The “Tambour Twenty Chronograph” was presented in a short film “Journey Beyond Time” for the brand, featuring acclaimed actor Bradley Cooper, as it was launched to commemorate the brand's 20th anniversary in watchmaking.

Within the same year, and in La Fabrique du Temps manufacture in Geneva, the brand also launched the “Tambour Carpe Diem Automaton”, that features pink-gold case, and a sculpture of a skull on its dial, adorned with a snake whose tail serves as the retrograde minute hand, taking its inspiration from the "memento mori", an artistic and emotive concept designed to serve as a poignant reminder of mortality, encouraging the wearer to embrace life fully by acknowledging the inevitability of death.

This year, the brand has released the Tambour 2023, and a selection of the Maison’s museum most exceptional timepieces, like the “Tambour Opera Automata” with its Dial taking Inspiration from the Sichuan Bian Lian Mask, and like the “Tambour Fiery Heart Automata” rich with green and red colors on the dial, with round-cut diamond set into the lugs.

Now, the brand releases its latest timepiece, the “Tambour Moon Flying Tourbillon Kaleidoscope”, giving homage to the brand's iconic Monogram Flower, and showcasing a crafted cloisonné enamel dial brought to life by Anita Porchet, one of Switzerland's most recognised enamelers, and the best known enamel artist working in watches today.

Housed  in a drum shaped 18k rose gold polished case, measuring 42mm in diameter and 11.5mm in thickness, with a sapphire crystal that is coated with an anti-reflective treatment on both its front and caseback surfaces.

However, it's the dial that commands center stage, Anita Porchet has crafted the enamel dial with LV Monogram Flowers, employing the ancient art of cloisonné enamel, delicate gold threads are assembled to the dial, forming an intricate kaleidoscope pattern. The dial also features gold skeletonised hour and minute hands, and applied spherical gold hour markers, with a flying tourbillon positioned at 6 o'clock that presents a golden “V”, tribute to Gaston-Louis Vuitton, Louis Vuitton’s grandson.

The watch is powered by the LV 81 caliber manufactured in La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, with a micro-rotor, and offering 40 hours of power reserve. The decoration on the movement draws inspiration from the iconic striped Trianon fabric dating back to 1858, the first canvas used by Louis-Vuitton. The timepiece is limited, and comes with a blue alligator leather strap, with 18k rose gold pin buckle.
