A Fresh Interpretation of the Iconic Tambour Collection, Crafted Entirely in the Brand’s Atelier
In its first participation in LVMH Watch Week, Louis Vuitton unveils two new models from its iconic Tambour collection, the Tambour Convergence watches. The sixth edition of LVMH Watch Week, a highly anticipated event, kicks off today in New York City after being relocated from Los Angeles due to recent wildfires.
The Tambour Convergence collection redefines elegance and craftsmanship, marking a significant step forward for the brand in the world of luxury watches. The collection's name reflects the perfect harmony between the specialized expertise of three Louis Vuitton workshops: La Fabrique du Temps (movement design), La Fabrique du Boîtier (case manufacturing), and La Fabrique des Arts (rare crafts).
While retaining the signature curved design of the original Tambour, first introduced in 2002, the classic design of the Tambour Convergence collection has been refined with a smaller case size of 37 mm in diameter and just 8 mm in thickness. Available in platinum or rose gold, the case is entirely crafted in the brand's new La Fabrique du Boîtier workshop and features an impressive combination of hand finishes and precise sandblasting. This dual finish not only enhances its visual appeal but also highlights the collection's distinctive structural lugs.
The dial is fully integrated, serving as an extension of the case design. In the rose gold version, the structural lugs feature sculpted and sandblasted sides, creating a subtle contrast with the polished windows, or what the company refers to as "guichets," on the dial. The platinum version elevates luxury to a new level with its center adorned with 795 diamonds, meticulously set using the complex snow-setting technique. This dazzling display requires 32 hours of work, reflecting Louis Vuitton's commitment to excellence.
The Tambour Convergence collection introduces a new way of reading time in Tambour watches, inspired by Art Deco. The dial features two small windows that display the hours and minutes through rotating discs.
The hour window showcases engraved numerals in a serif design, filled with deep blue lacquer, placed on a circularly brushed disc. Below it, the minute disc rotates with understated elegance. Surrounding these windows is a fan-shaped recess with sandblasted details that add depth and texture.
In the rose gold version, a sandblasted ring separates the polished outer and inner parts of the case. Meanwhile, the platinum version includes a fan-shaped plate at six o'clock bearing the Louis Vuitton logo in bold letters, perfectly balancing the dial's design.
The Tambour Convergence watches are powered by a brand-new movement, the LFT MA01.01 caliber, a slim automatic movement entirely developed in the La Fabrique du Temps workshop. This movement combines traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation.
Beneath the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement bridges are sandblasted with precisely beveled edges, highlighting Louis Vuitton's attention to detail and commitment to producing technically advanced and visually appealing watches.
The Tambour Convergence collection is available with straps that perfectly complement its design. The platinum version comes with a dark blue calfskin strap, while the rose gold version features a warm brown camel leather strap. Prices for these exceptional watches are available upon request.
