Introducing Louis Erard Partners with Worn & Wound on a Distinctive Collaboration

Le Régulateur Dial Featured a Unique Design Touch

Louis Erard has collaborated with Worn & Wound, the US-based watch magazine, with a shared goal that went beyond creating a watch that neatly fits into an existing category. Instead, the intention was to design something truly distinct, an interplay of textures, colors, and depth. Louis Erard’s signature regulator, known for its unconventional separation of hours, minutes, and seconds, offered the ideal foundation. This unique layout brought both challenges and creative opportunities, ultimately inspiring a dial composed of three expressive layers.

Housed in Louis Erard’s 39 mm polished steel case, featuring a bowl-shaped mid-section and straight lugs, the watch strikes a balance between elegance and presence. With a thickness of 13.4 mm, a 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement, and 50 meters of water resistance, the case maintains wearability while offering robust construction.

The dial, built in three layers, showcases a harmonious palette of subtle blue tones. The lowest layer has a backdrop slightly cooler than white, serving as a stage for the skeletonized hour and seconds disks. The middle layer, typically the main surface of a dial, is rendered in a soft light blue with deep fluting that aligns with traditional minute markers. Devoid of any printing, it offers an uninterrupted, calming field of color.

The uppermost layer, framed in metal, is finished in a rich cobalt blue. Its deep-lacquered surface is enhanced by fluting that aligns with the layer beneath, creating a dynamic sense of motion. This is where the minute index appears, displayed in crisp white with clean sans-serif numerals and hash marks for optimal legibility. Elevated above the lower surfaces, this layer acts as the dial’s visual focal point—an iris drawing the eye toward the center.

As the only traditional hand on the dial, the minute hand is boldly executed. Its stylized arrow shape draws inspiration from Louis Erard’s signature “fir-tree” hands, a nod to the Jura region where the brand is based. Fully polished with a central crease that adds dimensionality, the hand tapers to a fine point, ensuring precise and immediate readability.

Partially hidden beneath the minutes dial, the hour and seconds disks rotate as though floating freely. Their construction—a technical challenge—relies on fully skeletonized components that retain only the numerals, select markers, and minimal structural supports. Appearing almost like animated typography, the disks enhance the regulator’s visual drama. Time is read via pointed metal protrusions extending from the minute dial frame, combining both decorative appeal and functional clarity.

Powering the Louis Erard × Worn & Wound limited edition is the Swiss-made Sellita SW266-1 automatic movement. Part of Sellita’s respected 200-series, the caliber features 31 jewels, hacking seconds, manual winding capability, a 28,800 vph frequency, and the regulator display unique to this reference. A customized rotor with the Louis Erard emblem completes the movement.

Completing the watch is a pebbled taupe leather strap that complements the dial’s tonal blue range without overpowering it.

Limited to 99 pieces, this Louis Erard × Worn & Wound Regulator is priced at USD 4,990 (approx. AED 18,325). The first 50 pieces are available now through the Windup Watch Shop, both online and in its Brooklyn showroom. Depending on demand, the remaining units will be assembled, but the edition will not exceed 99 pieces.
