A Regulator Masterpiece in Collaboration with Artist Olivier Mosset
Louis Erard is taking part in the TimeForArt auction, set to be held in New York on December 7th. For this special occasion, the Swiss independent watchmaker has unveiled a unique timepiece in a striking blue design. This exceptional model is based on the Le Régulateur collection, renowned for its distinctive dial layout that prioritizes clean and legible aesthetics.
The design is inspired by Olivier Mosset’s “Untitled” artwork, featuring metal canvases that were exhibited at the MAMO Centre d’art de la Cité Marseille in 2018. The watch captures the spirit of Mosset’s work with a glossy blue lacquered dial, embedded with silver glitter—a concept reminiscent of the all-black Louis Erard x Olivier Mosset Le Régulateur.
The watch is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter and 12.25mm in thickness, offering an elegant and classic shape. The case back is crafted from smoked blue sapphire crystal, complementing the watch’s vibrant blue design. It also features an engraving indicating its limited-edition status as “1 of 1.”
The dial, free of any labels or logos, presents a pure artistic expression. The hands baton-style for the hour, minute, and seconds—are identical in length, width, and rounded ends. A single distinguishing detail is the varying size of the hole in each hand, which ensures legibility while maintaining the minimalist, artistic vision.
Inside the watch beats the automatic Sellita SW266-1 movement, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing a 38-hour power reserve. The watch comes with two straps: a functional leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle and an additional strap signed by Mosset. The latter, marked with “work of art – do not wear,” emphasizes the watch’s status as an art object rather than a conventional wearable timepiece.
The Louis Erard Le Régulateur TimeForArt Edition is estimated to fetch between $3,000 and $6,000 at auction.
