Introducing Breguet Refreshes the Tradition Collection with a Modern Touch

The indie brand’s first Moon phase timepieces
Laurent Ferrier is an independent Swiss brand that in the very year of its official launch in 2010, won the award for the best men’s watch at the GPHG for the “Classic Tourbillon Double Hairspring”, its very first creation. In our talk with Laurent Ferrier’s son, Christian Ferrier, where he offered insights into the company's production process, and shared with us the GPHG Tourbillon Watch Prize winner the “Grand Sport Tourbillon Pursuit”. Christian Ferrier also hinted at a new evolutionary model that will be presented in Watches And Wonders 2024, and here it is, meet the classic moon. Two new additions to the Classic collection, each featuring an Annual Calendar and the brand's first moon phase compilation.

The options include a polished stainless steel or 18k red gold case, introducing a fresh interpretation of the classic stylistic cues for which the brand is renowned. Both versions measure 40 mm in diameter and 12.90 mm in thickness, with a day corrector positioned at 10 o'clock and a moon phase corrector positioned at 8:30. The case features curved lugs, ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist, along with a sapphire crystal on top and bottom, softly curved bezel and a spherical crown.
The classic Moon timepiece, with its complications, embodies timeless elegance, available with either a gray-blue opaline or vertically brushed silver dial, offering a diverse array of indications. Encircling the slender Roman numerals and baton indices is a railroad minute track featuring the 31 date numerals in a traditional font that are indicated by a red or white hand. Positioned below 12 o’clock are two beveled windows housing a weekday display on the left and the month on the right. The hour and minute hands, crafted from white gold, complement the design. At the 6 o'clock position, a small seconds subdial intertwines with the Moon Phase indicator, featuring aventurine glass and translucent enamel for a captivating effect. The moon phases of the Northern Hemisphere are opposed to the Southern Hemisphere moon, as indicated by the N and S markers between the small second indices.
Drawing inspiration from the brand’s earlier annual calendar movement, the LF126.01, the updated Manual winding caliber LF126.02 represents a refined and enhanced iteration, operating at 21,600 (3Hz) and boasting an 80-hour power reserve. To achieve this, over 30 new components have been integrated into the new caliber, while more than twenty existing ones have been revised and optimized. Additionally, a power reserve indicator has been strategically placed on the case back side of the watch movement. Both watches either come with a dark gray nubuck or brown calf strap, hand-sewn, tone-on-tone Alcantara lining, paired with stainless steel or 18K/750 5N red gold pin buckle.
