A Fusion of Swiss Luxury and the Sporty Spirit of British Automobiles
Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin began their stunning collaboration in 2021, producing seven special editions together since then. The most recent was the Laureato Absolute Aston Martin F1 Edition. Now, for the first time, the British luxury carmaker and the Swiss watch manufacture join forces to create a Skeleton Laureato, a design that fully exposes the mechanical movement while celebrating Aston Martin’s legendary Racing Green, the iconic hue of its high-performance sports cars.
The case of the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition is a pure expression of this partnership. Measuring 42 mm in diameter and 11.13 mm in thickness, the familiar Laureato silhouette is crafted from black ceramic, a high-performance material chosen for its exceptional properties. Ceramic is approximately seven times harder than steel, providing outstanding resistance to scratches and daily wear. It is also significantly lighter than metal, ensuring comfort on the wrist, and is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for all wearers.
Finishing ceramic to this standard is a true challenge. The signature octagonal bezel features a circular satin finish that creates a subtle, radiating pattern, contrasted by horizontal satin brushing on the main body of the case. This interplay of textures catches the light beautifully. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal protects the front, offering a clear view of the intricate mechanics, while the caseback features another sapphire crystal, adorned with a white-printed Aston Martin logo. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters.
The openworked dial embraces maximum transparency, offering an unobstructed view of the movement. In place of a traditional solid dial, a floating chapter ring carries the suspended hour markers. Both the indices and the skeletonized baton-style hands are treated with green PVD coating, a vivid nod to Aston Martin’s Racing Green, standing out sharply against the anthracite-treated movement. In low-light conditions, these elements emit a matching green luminescence for legibility.
A small seconds display appears discreetly at 10 o’clock, also skeletonized to preserve the watch’s airy architecture. The barrel sits between 5 and 6 o’clock, while the large balance wheel dominates the 12 o’clock position.
Powering the watch is the self-winding Calibre GP01800-2627, derived from Girard-Perregaux’s renowned GP01800 movement. It features anthracite-gray ruthenium finishing, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and delivers a 54-hour power reserve. The rotor, crafted from solid pink gold with green PVD treatment to match the dial accents, is extensively skeletonized, both as an aesthetic choice and to allow more light into the movement, enhancing the sense of depth and complexity.
The integrated bracelet, also in black ceramic, mirrors the case’s refined finishing with a combination of satin and polished surfaces. Its H-shaped links and polished center links are hallmarks of the Laureato collection. A triple-folding buckle, likewise in black ceramic, ensures a secure fit.
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition is limited to just 88 pieces worldwide and is priced at EUR 57,200 approximately AED 243,200.
