Introducing Konstantin Chaykin Brings Back the Classic Joker

Two version, In a New Movement and a Scaled-Down Case

As mentioned earlier, amidst the Watches and Wonders 2024, numerous exhibitions are taking place, with one of the most anticipated being the third edition of Masters of Horology hosted by The Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI), where independent watchmakers gather. Among them, Konstantin Chaykin, a member of AHCI, is reintroducing one of his most beloved timepieces, the Joker Classic.

Part of the Wristmon collection, the new Joker harks back to its original 2017 design but features a downsized 40 mm case and, notably, a new movement. The Joker, with its anthropomorphic dial, remains as captivating today as it was upon its initial introduction in 2017. and comes in two versions for the dial.

Crafted entirely at the "Konstantin Chaykin" atelier, the new 40mm brushed steel case signifies a departure from the previous 42mm size for the Joker Classic. This updated version features a sleeker bezel adorned with card suits and the letter J, paying homage to the original design.

The trademark white dial of the Joker Classic resembles a smiling face, with separate hour and minute indicators resembling eyes and a cheeky moon phase complication forming the open grinning mouth.

Available in two versions, the Joker Classic retains the traditional color scheme of the original (white dial with green highlights) or offers a variation in light gray with red accents. The white dial base showcases a guilloché grain de riz pattern, while the sector resembling a nose is adorned with a guilloché pavé de Paris, introducing a change in texture. The reduction in case size necessitated adjustments in dial proportions, maintaining the original diameter for the 'eyes' while shrinking the face, resulting in an even more captivating expression.

A notable change lies in the choice of movement. For this model, Chaykin chose a Swiss-made movement, the La Joux-Perre automatic G200 caliber, after it had an in house movement for the first version. The G200 caliber operates at a frequency of 4Hz and offers a 68-hour power reserve. The rotor displays pieces of the brand's seagull logo, which are among Chaikin's touches on the movement, which he modified and added the Joker mechanism to it.

The watch features a Black alligator leather with calfskin lining and steel buckle, the watch production is limited by 100 pieces every year and priced at CHF16,900 which is equivalent to 68,000 AED.
