The Zebra, A One-of-a-Kind Watch Inspired by the Madagascar Animation
Russia is perhaps most famous for being a producer of rocket or caviar, but in the luxury watch industry, it has a great tradition, being the birthplace of brands like Rakita. And one of the creative independent makers, Konstantin Chaykin. An electronics engineer who established his workshop in 2003 in Saint Petersburg before later moving to Moscow.

Chaikin gained fame for his unique and unconventional watch designs, which often incorporated elements of art and mythology. One of its most famous releases is the Racemont collection, where the dial stands out noticeably expressively, a feature that Konstantin Chaikin has masterfully incorporated into his series of wristwatches. This collection of watches brilliantly displays time, with hour and minute sub-dials that resemble eyes. Now, he puts his technical expertise into a unique new watch. New design and new movement, Konstantin Chaikin chose an automatic winding system with a micro-rotor. This design reduces the overall thickness of the movement, resulting in a slimmer, sleeker watch.

Inspired by Marty, the zebra, the beloved character from the cartoon Madagascar, the watch case, decorated with black carbon fiber composite decorative detailing on the bezel, features the zebra's distinctive black and white stripes. The dial adds to the complexity of the watch, featuring colored lines in white or black.

Drawing inspiration from Marty, the zebra, a beloved character from the Madagascar cartoon, the Zebra watch similarly faces an existential query. Much like Marty, this timepiece grapples with providing a definitive answer, as both interpretations hold true. The watch's case, adorned with black carbon fiber composite decorative details on the bezel, mirrors the distinctive white and black stripes characteristic of a zebra. The dial further complicates Marty's question, featuring stripes colored in either white or black. Interestingly,

Comes in a stainless steel case, 40 mm. In these Wristmons, where the case lugs serve as the character's ears, Konstantin Chaykin diverges from the standard design of watches in this collection, featuring two heads, a crown, and a corrector. In the Zebra watch, the crown is positioned at the 6 o'clock position, between the lower lugs of the strap attachment, while the case back is transparent and made of sapphire crystal.

Considering the dial configuration, the closest analog would be the Minotaur Special Chinese New Year 2021 watch, where, for the first time in the Wristmons collection, a Joker-time indication emerged with two disk indicators for hours and minutes (depicting the eyes of the character) and a large two-disk day of the week indicator (depicting the nostrils of the character). In the Zebra watch, Konstantin Chaykin employs a similar configuration, but the resemblance ends there.

Another noteworthy and emotionally resonant addition is the introduction of an indicator that has never before been used in the Wristmons collection. Konstantin Chaykin introduces a new smiling complication, the crown mode indicator. When the crown is pulled out, the background of the Zebra smile changes from white to red, allowing this Zebra to show its tongue!
for this model, he developed a new calibre, K.33.3, for both the basic mechanism and the joker-indication module, marking the first automatic movement with a micro-rotor entirely designed and manufactured in Russia. Zebra is the first watch not only among the Wristmons but also in the entire brand collection to feature calibre K.33.3
The unique zebra strap, specially crafted for this watch from high-quality calfskin leather, is also black with white stripes.
