Introducing Kollokium Unveils Projekt 02 Variant B

The Second Generation of the Brand’s Creative Design Becomes Available to the Public

Kollokium’s late-2025 release, Projekt 02, marks a bold new chapter for the creative brand. Building on the success of their inaugural timepiece, the renowned Projekt 01, which spawned numerous variants, Projekt 02 takes the concept further, refining the brand’s vision while pushing its design language to new heights.

Projekt 02 Variant B is the first publicly available edition of Kollokium’s sophomore release, and it elevates the topographical design in unprecedented ways. Featuring what is likely the world’s first vertical radient dial, shifting from grey to black across nine layers, this edition is limited to 299 pieces, plus one prototype that will be auctioned for a charitable cause.

It’s safe to say that Kollokium has outgrown its “rising brand” status. Now in its third year of production and sixth year since conception, the brand continues to explore and innovate. The vision is clear, inspirations are abundant, and ideas are limitless. Projekt 01 set the tone; Projekt 02 proves that Kollokium is not confined to a single design language or concept.

For this first public iteration of Projekt 02, the goal was to distinguish it from the Friends, Family, Fools & Flippers (FFF&F) edition that debuted the K,P–n°02 a few months ago. While retaining the topographical multilayer dial and the case, composed more of sapphire crystal than metal—the execution gives Variant B a wholly distinct character.

The watch retains the same 39.5 mm monobloc case as the previous edition, crafted from die-cast 316L stainless steel,a rare manufacturing method in watchmaking. By casting molten steel rather than machining it, Kollokium achieves raw, tactile shapes and textures.

The central barrel-shaped body appears to float between four triangular lugs, creating the illusion of a welded structure. At just 5.9 mm in height without the crystal (12.4 mm with it), the watch sits elegantly on the wrist, offering comfort despite its sculptural form. A valve-shaped crown is the only protrusion, preserving the seamless silhouette. With water resistance of 50 meters and no traditional bezel or caseback, the case presents a fully integrated form.

Rather than being a separate component, the caseback is fused into the body, turning the entire case into a single structural shell. This design supports the dial’s topographical architecture and allows a continuous transition between steel, crystal, and dial.

The dial of Projekt 02 Variant B is a technical and aesthetic masterpiece. Composed of nine layers and sixty-seven individual dial plates, it revives the much-loved color palette of Projekt 01 Variant E. As with all Kollokium Projekts, small cosmetic changes have a profound impact but require meticulous preparation. The FFF&F edition proved the complexity of translating a flat, two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional topographical dial. Each of the 67 stacked plates is hand-painted with lacquer infused with Super-LumiNova.

For Variant B, Kollokium took the concept further: like a hypsometric map, each dial layer is painted in a slightly different tone to accentuate the topography. Plates are stacked and pegged one by one, a process that takes around six hours per dial. The plates are delicate and can bend during assembly, forcing the dial to be discarded and the process restarted.

The highest points of the dial, marking the twelve hours, are hand-painted in light grey, with successive layers gradually darkening to deep black. Achieving a smooth gradient with luminescent paint was exceptionally challenging, requiring careful attention to grain size, opacity, and consistency. Yet, the resulting vertical gradient is seamless, dramatic, and entirely worth the effort.

Powering the watch is the familiar Swiss automatic La Joux-Perret G101 caliber, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a robust 68-hour power reserve.

The watch comes with a flexible grey rubber strap, fitted with a molded steel buckle crafted using the same casting technique as the case. It also includes a system for easy and precise size adjustment.

The Kollokium Projekt 02 Variant B is a limited edition of 299 pieces, priced at CHF 3,666.66 (approximately 17,290 AED).
