Introducing King Seiko Revives The Iconic Vanac

Seiko’s legacy of precision watchmaking extends beyond its mainstay collections, with the King Seiko standing as a testament to the brand’s pursuit of refined craftsmanship. Originally introduced in the 1960s as a high-end alternative to Grand Seiko, King Seiko watches were known for their sharp case designs, high-quality movements, and attention to detail. Now, Seiko is revisiting its archives with the revival of the King Seiko Vanac, a bold and distinctive model that captures the spirit of the 1970s.

The new King Seiko Vanac models maintain their vintage aesthetic with signature faceted cases and vibrant dial options, now with upgraded specifications. The stainless steel case measures 41 mm in diameter and 14.3 mm in thickness, retaining the sharp angles and polished surfaces that defined the original Vanac models. The case is topped with a box-shaped sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface, and turning to the caseback you can see the movement. The new Vanac models offer a water resistance rating of 100 meters, while still not intended for diving, this level of protection ensures the watch can withstand exposure to water during daily activities.

The brand introduces a captivating range of dial designs that reflect the vibrant Tokyo skyline across different times of day. The main collection offers three distinct dial colors, each representing a moment in Tokyo's daily transformation. The SLA083 features a rich purple dial, inspired by the soft hues of evening twilight, while the SLA085, with its navy dial, captures the stillness and depth of midnight. The SLA087 boasts a silver dial, evoking the beauty of sunrise. Each of these dials is adorned with a horizontal stripe pattern, enhancing both their texture and legibility, while the embedded ring for the indexes adds a clean and structured aesthetic.

In addition to these, the collection includes two special variants that further elevate the series. The SLA089 showcases a gold dial inspired by the Tokyo sunrise. The dial’s warm, golden tone is complemented by golden lettering and a King Seiko logo in a matching hue, making it a striking and exclusive piece. This model is limited to just 700 pieces. Meanwhile, the SLA091 offers a boutique exclusive with a refreshing ice blue dial, reflecting the clear blue skies of Tokyo on a bright, sunny day.

The dial features applied indices and polished dauphine hands with a date window at 3 o’clock, and the 12 o’clock index with the seconds hand displays the striking silhouette of the letter “V,” indicating the first letter of the series’s name.

Powering the King Seiko Vanac is the Caliber 8L45 movement, an automatic movement that offers 28,800 vph (4Hz) and delivers a robust 72-hour power reserve. Each watch is paired with a stainless steel bracelet designed to seamlessly integrate with the case. The watches share the price of €3,400, which is approximately equivalent to AED 13,600.
