An Exceptional Creation in Collaboration with 10tenlabs to Celebrate Saudi National Day
To commemorate the enduring partnership between 10tenlabs × Jaquet Droz, and in celebration of the 95th Saudi National Day, a remarkable piece unique has been unveiled. It was born from a late-night vision at 10tenlabs: camels Al Mazayen, celebrated for their elegance and noble stature, wandering amidst the lavender fields of Saudi Arabia.
The dial captures, in exquisite detail, a lavender field where two white dromedaries stroll under the night sky against a desert backdrop. Crafted on a mineral base, the composition uses contrasts of light and shadow to showcase the engraving and miniature painting mastery of Jaquet Droz artists, elevating the piece into a genuine work of art.
This creation was commissioned by a passionate collector who reached out to Jaquet Droz more than a year ago with a precise vision of the timepiece he wanted to entrust to the Maison. A true aesthete and owner of some of the most beautiful white dromedaries in the Arab world, he is a regular participant in prestigious camel beauty contests and has cultivated a poetic, dreamlike vision of the animal.
Measuring 41 mm in platinum, the case itself is a bespoke achievement. For the first time, the Petite Heure Minute has been reimagined in such a manner, with Jaquet Droz designing a unique case solely for this client.
The decoration evokes a nocturnal serenity. A pitch-black onyx sub-dial, displaying two white-gold hands, rests beneath a starry aventurine sky. At 10 o’clock appears a hemispherical Moon, engraved in relief with alternating polished and finely grained surfaces. Anchored invisibly through the aventurine, the operation carried significant risk given the fragile mineral layer is just 0.55 mm thick.
The lower portion of the dial consists of two layers. The backdrop is an 0.85 mm white-gold base, meticulously engraved with lavender plants, a reference to Saudi Arabia’s famed “desert lavender,” which brings unexpected floral life to arid landscapes. At 9 o’clock, a micro-painted traveler’s tent comes to life, its benches, guests, and crackling fire rendered with a single-bristle brush, a feat of miniature artistry rarely matched in precision.
In the foreground stand the two camels. Far from generic depictions, they are faithful portraits of the collector’s prized dromedaries, each captured with distinctive details—their expressive eyes, the curve of their lips, their proud and elegant gait. To capture their essence, Jaquet Droz designers produced multiple sketches, refining profiles and postures until their personalities were perfectly transposed onto the dial.
Through the sapphire case back, the Jaquet Droz Caliber 2653 is revealed. This self-winding mechanical movement features a silicon balance spring, beating at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and delivering a 68-hour power reserve from its twin barrels. The rotor is adorned with the head of a white camel, set against a starry-sky motif. This exceptional piece is completed with a black leather strap and is offered with pricing available upon request.
