A Dazzling Ladies’ Timepiece, Featuring a Refined Celestial Complication
In 2022, the Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced a captivating and technically remarkable complication to the Rendez-Vous collection: the Shooting Star. Now, in 2025, the Maison presents a poetic new interpretation of this feminine timepiece, adorned with intricately hand-painted peonies on the dial and enhanced with an elegant gem-setting technique that elevates its artistry.
Housed in an 18K pink gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 11.11mm in height, the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star strikes a perfect balance between presence and wearability. The case gleams with the rich warmth of precious metal, while the bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds highlights the meticulous craftsmanship that extends to every detail.
From the diamond-set lugs and caseband to the perfectly positioned gemstone on the crown, every element reinforces the harmonious circular motif. The case offers a water resistance of 50 metres.
This dazzling timepiece is available in two exquisite options. The first features a fully diamond-set bracelet composed of 625 brilliant-cut diamonds, amounting to approximately 6.31 carats, flowing seamlessly across the wrist and case. The second is paired with a glossy blue alligator leather strap and features 189 diamonds set across the case and dial, totaling around 1.47 caratsd.
The dial, crafted from sapphire crystal, is a marvel of miniature painting and gem-setting. Composed of three overlapping discs, the construction adds depth and dimension to the dial. Lush peony blooms, painstakingly hand-painted on translucent sapphire glass, adorn the surface in either nine shades of pink or twelve shades of blue lacquer, depending on the version. The process is labor-intensive: beginning with freehand outlines of the flowers, followed by foliage painted in reverse on the back of the disc, then brought to life when viewed from the front. Precision is paramount, as the fast-drying lacquer allows no room for error.
Beneath this artistry lies a rotating mother-of-pearl disc, airbrushed in soft blue hues to evoke a starry night sky. A laser-cut silhouette of a shooting star, set into this disc, is activated by the natural motion of the wrist. This reveals a silvery third layer beneath—simulating the ethereal flash of a meteor streaking across the heavens. A circle of diamonds tracing the star’s path, along with the gem-set bezel, frames the scene in radiant brilliance, drawing the eye toward the centrepiece.
Powering this exceptional creation is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s in-house Calibre 734. Developed and manufactured entirely at the Manufacture in Le Sentier, the self-winding movement comprises 335 components, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and offers a generous 70-hour power reserve.
The shooting star complication is not controlled manually, but appears spontaneously through a delicate mechanical ballet, brought to life by the gentle movement of the wrist evoking the fleeting beauty of its celestial muse.
Available in either a blue alligator leather strap or a fully diamond-set pink gold bracelet with integrated folding clasp, each version of the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star is limited to just 10 pieces. Price available upon request.
