A New Generation for the Iconic Model, A Tourbillon Joins the Dual-Time Zone Display
In 2023, Jacob & Co. introduced the "The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone" watch as a tribute to the first dual-time watch owned by the brand’s founder, Jacob Arabo, which was a gift from his father when he was thirteen years old. It was more than just an inspiring design; it was a family heirloom carrying a powerful message, one that gave the collection its name: "My son, the world is yours. Go forth and explore it."
Now, two years later, Jacob & Co. unveils the first evolution of The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone, introducing one of the brand’s signature complications, the tourbillon. The curved dial of The World Is Yours collection now welcomes a tourbillon at its pinnacle, positioned at the highest point of the world map while maintaining the same design language and color combination.
The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone Tourbillon retains the 43 mm diameter of its predecessor, housed in a rose gold case. Due to the shape of the movement within, its profile is highly curved, measuring 10.4 mm at the edges and rising to 18.1 mm at the center. Elegantly sculpted, these lines appear to emerge from the wrist, seamlessly integrating into a natural outline, especially as the design eliminates a traditional bezel.
The dial is crafted from titanium, with a blank circle meticulously stamped to create its pronounced curvature. A high-precision laser etches the surface to sculpt the intricate relief of the landmasses, which are then enhanced with a PVD blue treatment. A second laser selectively removes the blue coating from the continents, revealing a 5N rose gold finish. The rest of the world is not forgotten, it is depicted in gold on the blue sapphire crystal caseback.
The key evolution lies at the center both visually and mechanically. Beneath the compass rose, a sapphire bridge supports a 30-second double-axis tourbillon, demanding extra height compared to the simpler caliber in the original The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone.
At 12 o’clock, a sub-dial with Roman numerals displays the hours and minutes, while at 6 o’clock, its counterpart features Arabic numerals. Thanks to a three-position crown, each sub-dial can be set independently, allowing for two entirely separate time zones. There is no designated home or local time, it is entirely up to the wearer, making it particularly useful for those navigating unusual time offsets.
Inside The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone Tourbillon beats an entirely new movement developed specifically for this model, the JCAA45 caliber. For the first time in its history, Jacob & Co. integrates an off-centered micro-rotor to power an automatic movement. Made of solid 950 platinum, the micro-rotor ensures efficient winding while keeping the overall height minimal.
Caliber JCAA45 offers the same dual-time functionality as the original model, featuring two independent hour and minute sub-dials. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and delivers a 65-hour power reserve.
Completing the timepiece is a Blue Alligator Leather strap with a Rose Gold Deployment Buckle. Limited to 199 pieces, The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone Tourbillon is priced at USD 230,000, approximately 844,745 AED.
