New case and movement for Jacob’s creative piece
Jacob & Co. has always been renowned for its daring creativity in timekeeping with its boundary-pushing designs and complex mechanical marvels. This visionary approach has elevated the brands fame status in the world of haute horlogerie. This year has marked significant milestones for Jacob & Co., with the introduction of the Astronomia Régulateur, and the intricate Bugatti Tourbillon. Yet, the brand continues to amaze, now unveiling a more compact version of the iconic Oil Pump, as part of its participation in Geneva Watch Days 2024.
Introduced in 2019, the Oil Pump timepiece captivated watch enthusiasts with its intricate automaton depicting an oil derrick in motion. The centerpiece of this creation, the oil derrick, performs a rhythmic bobbing motion, replicating the operation of an actual oil rig. Now, this horological marvel has been reimagined with new updates that enhance both its functionality and design, while remaining true to the original concept that made it so iconic.

The redesigned Oil Pump now features a more compact case, reduced from 49.5mm to 44mm in diameter and from 20mm to 18mm in thickness, ensuring greater comfort on the wrist. Crafted from 18K rose gold, the case is adorned with a domed sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating, enhancing the view of its intricate mechanics. A pusher positioned at 1:30 controls the automaton motion, which lasts for 35 seconds. Winding and time-setting are managed through two bows located on the case back.
The dial showcases a black PVD grid platform, with the hour and minute sub-dial positioned at 4 o'clock, featuring Roman numerals and a single-axis flying tourbillon instead of the previous dual-axis. The derricks, barrel, and pipelines are elegantly plated in 18K rose gold, adding a luxurious touch to the mechanical artistry.

The watch is powered by the hand-wound Caliber JCAM53, a highly intricate movement composed of 450 components. It offers a power reserve of 72 hours and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph (3 Hz). It comes with a black alligator leather strap with a 18K rose gold and titanium deployment buckle. The watch is limited to 88 pieces and priced at USD 280,000, equivalent to AED 1,030,000.
